Rock and Roll Girls by John Fogerty.

    Here’s one for you. Singer/song:

    Put me in coach
    I’m ready to play

I will disqualify myself, as I think at every single minor league game I have been to in the last 30 years, that song was played at least once.

State College(13-20) can use some OF help. There’s 5 OFers on the roster and only Nootbaar (.261) is hitting over .220. The teams .235BA is 11th in the 14 team NYP league. The Spike’s pitching is 11th in ERA and near bottom of league in most stats.

They are 4th in their division 7.0 games back…. 5-12 at home.

Baker has been sent up to Peoria! Time to see if he can handle the challenge.

Just a little problem there… YGonzalez(.306) has played the majority of games at 1st there, but also has played all of the INF positions and 1 game in the OF. We’ll have to see what happens there.

The Redbirds wasted that Ellis performance (GS-67), the JC Cards missed out on the Zamora (GS-61) outing the losing the game in the 9th ,Voyles also got a 61 Game Score for the Spikes and got an L. The Beach Birds didn’t give Kruczynski GS- much support as he hurled 6.0 inn and earned a 60 GS. The GCL-Cards bombed Miami 12-4 in a bullpen game, (the relievers pitched the whole game).

Mendoza played his first game at SS. He has really picked up the AA pitching and he is batting .415 in his last 10 games despite the 0-3 in that game called by lightning after 6.2 innings in Little Rock.

DGonzalez is now in the Springfield pen. Some expect him to be back at AAA soon. (StLouis later on??)

Too bad Ramon Urias was placed on DL. He is hitting .338 for Springfield and .436 in his last 10. The 5’10” 150 lb second baseman will be sorely missed.

The AA Springfield Cards in the last day have placed Urias, Edman and Tewes on the DL. Woodford and Beck were sent up to Memphis leaving them with 11 pitchers right now. To help fill out the roster, Chinea and DGonzalez returned from the DL and Young was brought up from Palm Beach.

Their uniform guy must be working overtime.

After coming to states Pacheco has had 2 great outings. 2 innings. all zeroes and 4 K’s. Maybe he can help Johnson City and pitching woes before years end.

over 70 runs and more than 100 hits in yesterday’s 7 games. We seem to have hitters now but are getting thin with pitching with high cieling.

I agree about high ceiling pitching, which is what matters most. But the problem is even more severe as the pitching is thinning out across the board. Team ERAs are considerably below league average level at six of the nine affiliates. Only Memphis, Palm Beach (which lost most its standouts to Springfield) and GCL (skewed some by college guys below level) are pitching above average in their leagues.

    If you’re looking for a laugh, here’s a Cardinals’ mid-season prospect list:
    https://prospects1500.com/top-50-lists/st-louis-cardinals-midseason-top-50-prospects/

Hudson at 15 and Kelly at 13….wow.

Pads… this list is tomfoolery. Obviously we can do a better job here. Even Brian does better.

Speaking of… just 60 days away from starting your new community list for 2019. Not to put pressure on Pads or anything, but he has done a fine job leading your efforts in recent years. Is he up for it again?

P.S. Thanks for the back-handed compliment, Ny. Better than the alternative.

Alex Fagalde is the best kept secret in the organization.

Do you have any info on Fagdale in addition to what can be found in his stat line? He has great stats but there are at least 5 other starters from his draft class that have been promoted further than he has.

Brian, do you know if Urias is a minor league FA at the end of the year if not placed on the 40 man roster. I assume at a minimum he would be rule 5 eligible (a la Cordoba).

How do you pronounce ‘Fagalde’? Just wondering.

He sure is, Nyquist! “Falgalde” pronounced “Fagalde”….or “Fogalde”, Mudville. I’m as nervous as Kruk vs Johnson that some team is going to fleece Mo out of Fagalde in this next week as the trading deadline nears. I can see it now….. “I’ll tell you what, Mo, just toss in that pitcher from your Peoria affiliate…..ah!…can’t think of his name right now….geesh…I think his last name starts with a P or an F………Foghorn…..no……Figgleman. Mo: “Fernandez? GM: “He’s at your Springfield affiliate Mo:”Poncedeleon? GM: “Memphis”…..Fagalde…thats it”! Mo: “Sure, he’s all yours”.

Brian- A question if you please? Tommy Layne LP- he is doing quite well at Memphis and I know he isn`t on the 40-man roster.Do you think Cards will add him if he continues his good work or do you think they will continue running Lyons out as their LHP in bullpen? Tyler Webb is on the 40-man so I would think he gets a Septem ber callup or earlier if Lyons implodes more or gets a Sore arm or whatever.

Good question. The problem with Lyons is that he cannot be sent down safely. Is it worth risking losing him forever just to give Layne a try? How far does Lyons sink before you pull the plug?

FWIW, it was a little later in the season than this, but last year, they gave up on Siegrist, who was claimed, but may never be his old self again.

Lyons should at least be optioned to Memphis. No options left? I dare someone to claim him! Lyons is a definite non tender for me. He is a FA anyway at the end of the year if it was up to me. I have been a big Lykns fan but he is either injured or lost it. I wish him luck buy it is time for the team to move on.

Warner top 13? Have never heard any buzz surrounding him until this. Non drafted out of college. Anyone have a scouting report or know what BA is seeing. His stats are good but aren’t wow level. He has actually been slightly old for his leagues. Not a typicall BA prospect.
