24. GranilloI had Gastellum just after Granillo so I’m fine with him getting selected where he did. I had Jordan 4 spots further down but no issues there either. I was just surprised he got in quickly with almost no previous votes.
I won’t be surprised at all if the best hitter in the system next season is Jack Gurevitch. But I realize he got off to a ho hum start. Granillo may be the big league closer by end of ‘26. He improved immensely on his control in ‘25 and has the best slider in our system (both minors and majors included) IMO.

Seriously, now that you mention it, Torres looks like a shoe-in to replace Donovan in the 2026 Opening Day lineup. All he has to do is show up at spring training and prove that he is what his stats say he is. Hope he doesn’t crack under the pressure.

#24. Jack GurevitchI like Torres a lot as he takes great at bats, but I definitely don’t see him as a shoe in for the lineup or even a roster spot. His stats will definitely go down at the big league level as pure contact hitters tend to have more regression as big league pitchers just challenge them.
23 Bryan Torres: If Donovan is traded, Torres becomes viable and he has improved at every level…not struggled then improved….Torres succeeded remarkably and then improved on tbose numbers.
24 Zach Levenson: Right-handed power could advance quickly if he simply starts next season as the player who finished the year at Springfield.23-Granillo (2027 closer)

I thought about starting a 2026 draft thread, but I try not to do that. But it is something to keep on the radar, the simulators/odds have the Cardinals getting the eighth pick due to three teams being uneligible for inside the top 10.

#24 Andre GranilloHe doesn’t get my vote yet, but one note on Jack Gurevitch. His pro debut was a disaster, but batting at Palm Beach may have had an exaggerated effect on him. The samples are miniscule but check these splits:

I think Granillo definitely gets a spot in the STL bullpen this season.
I’m seeing three participants changing the order of their selections. We previously put an end to this practice a few years back. So they voted for two spots and the two days later changed who they had just selected (I think it sets a bad precedent and those votes should not be counted) Its up to stlcard25 to make a ruling.

I’m ok with swapping a player in based on new information. For example, I’ve added a couple of guys to my list that I’d forgotten about (Granillo and Torres) in my initial rankings. They aren’t in voting territory for me yet, but if they were, I’m ok with adding them.
I would caution about swapping the order of two guys mid vote. I’d really prefer that we don’t switch prospect order after they’ve already been your picks. It makes it a lot easier to get the rankings wrong if you’re copying and pasting results over.
I don’t think we should invalidate votes just yet, but if we see repeat offenders we may need to call it out and if it keeps going, then we cancel votes.
My problem with Chase Davis (and I really root for and enjoy watching him) is that he was billed as CarGo II. His strike outs cause him to decide that he won’t chase and will only swing at pitches in the zone. This sounds right but he passes on fastballs early…gets deep in counts and still strikes out too much.
CarGo is .330 at the MLB level with 35 bombs.
Until Davis walks into the box looking to punish the pitcher, he will remain Mike Siani II. It’s more than approach. It’s attitude and he displays it in the field; He just needs to adjust when in the count he takes swings because there is no denying that certain counts… especially two-strike counts…are death nails.My reasoning is summarized in the article’s opening, which is always free to read.
