How aaron boone hasnt been fired just eludes me. Why have a guy like grisham who cant hit for anything esp anything offspeed leading off in front of one of the best players in the game. Just amazes me. Something that i guess can work during the season but is not at all optimal for playoffs against better pitching.

Blue jays put in straw for defense but gets an rbi single though he appeared overmatched. Why i mention this. I guessed wrongly that the Dodgers would wrap this NLDS up with a sweep on Wed. Now, they’ve got a tall order in the person of the lefty Sanchez who is more than capable of silencing the Dodger bats and sending this NLDS back to Citizens Bank for a decisive game 5.
When I see those powder blue Phillies road uniforms with the prominent double stripes running down each side, I get nightmarish flashbacks of Mike Schmidt standing in the batter’s box at Busch Memorial Stadium getting ready to uncoil and destroy a delivery from another unfortunate Redbird pitcher. Schmidt was a genuine monster for a long time.
I think the dodgers did the phillies a favor by taking out glasnow. They have scored a run to take a 1-0 lead. Sure an error helped which was by the pitcher but it just seems thats sheehans stuff isnt as electric as glasnows was.
Strahm with a bit of an odd looking career post-season pitching line with no decisions in 11 IP’ed to go along with a 6.75 ERA. I’d have thought he’d have a losing decision or 2 with that lofty ERA. At any rate, he looked real good in tonight’s appearance retiring the Dodgers in order in the home half of the 9th.
