I had a bad feeling about that home half the 8th inning. The Dodgers are lucky to have escaped with the lead, but they still need 3 more tough outs to hang a W up on the board. It’s never easy in this league.

Game over. I do think I prefer the Dodgers to win. I’ve just never been a fan of Philly sports teams.

Dodgers hang on for the 5-3 W and spoil what I thought was first rate work from the lefty Sanchez. He looked to be locked in on auto-pilot for more than a minute or two.

Tight game out in the Pacific NW as the Mariners hold a slim 5th inning 1-0 lead over the Tigers. I picked the Mariners to beat the Tigers and advance for no particular reason other than how can you go against a team that features a catcher who ripped 60 taters this season?

And just like that a player named Carpenter rips a 5th inning 2 run tater to lift the Tigers to a 2-1 lead.

Extra innings in Seattle reminds me of how much more interesting and exciting the game was back when they still played genuine baseball in extra innings…

Well, the Tigers win 3-2 in 11 innings to once again place me at 2-2 on the day’s post-season action. And that classifies me as a perfectly lackluster .500 baseball gypsy fortune teller…

I don’t recall ever having an off day after playing a single game in a post-season series unless it was because of rain. No NL games today and no AL games tomorrow. I’d be curious to know the reason and logic attached to that sort of series layout.

This Dodgers-Philliles series looks like it is going to be like an Ali-Frazier heavyweight bout. It is a shame that it isn’t the NLCS because I doubt the Brewers or Cubs could handle either one of these teams.

Yesterday’s games proved to be a bit challenging for our fearless forecasters, as only one of us batted over .500. Please stand up and take a bow, Osuagec. Osuagec connected on 3 of his 4 picks, but it’s not over until it’s over. Winning Game 1 in a 5 game series is huge, but I think 2 of yesterday’s losers will end up winning their series and advancing on to Round 3. We should acknowledge NyQuist’s 3-4 effort yesterday, but having missed Round 1, he does not qualify for being crowned Grand Champion at the conclusion of these playoffs……thank you very much.

The BlueJays squeaking by the Yankers today in Toronto. It’s 12-0 in the 5th inning.

I hope tonight’s Tigers/Mariners game is a better game. The Sunday Night football game (Patriots at Bills) will be a blowout.

One thing is for sure though. The late Sunday night episode of Barnaby Jones will be a good one.

And the Yankers have actually rallied – somewhat.

From 12-0 it is now a 13-7 game at stretch time.

    Couldn’t happen, could it???

And there is no historic rally.

    13-7 BlueJays your final.

Yankers down 2-0 in the best of five.

    Back to the Bronx.

Yankees are really crapping out big time. I thought it was odd people were proclaiming them favorites after beating the sox. Blue jays won the division by having a better record against the yankees so i dont know why.

It’s that Yankee mystique, Willie. And the fact that they are the defending AL champs and had a strong finish. A lot of people don’t take the Blue Jays seriously as they have not had much success in recent years.

I was busy with yard and vehicle stuff all day and didn’t get to see the first game, but the Yankees are in serious trouble and it looks like I’m going to take a beating in that ALDS. Just now tuning in to the Mariners/Tigers and hoping that Seattle can pull even in that series but that’s a tall order with Skubal at work for the Tigers. He looked like a genuine buzz saw during his last turn in CLE.

Polanco with the solo tater to end the 4th inning stalemate. He turned on that 2-0 slider and hit it with authority.

This Tigers/Mariners matchup is developing into the tightest of these 4 LDS. Two low scoring 1 run games with one of them requiring 11 innings to decide. Seattle wins this one by a score of 3-2. All tied up at 1 game apiece.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s 2 games when the Brewers/Cubs and the Dodgers/Phillies resume play in their respective NLDS. I’m reasonably certain that quite a few others on here hold similar sentiments regarding having much more interest in the 2 series that are contested in the NL. The way things are laid out nowadays there’s not really any difference in the 2 leagues and the scheduling format really combines them in to what is essentially one league, but my DNA finferprint will always give me away as a genuine NL baseball fan. It’s still the senior league.

Seattle squeaks by and evens the series. Meanwhile Toronto is really taking it to the Bronx boys.

Bike Mike back to work again starting today. I have not worked since May 2024 as I am basically retired, and enjoy the cushy easy livin’. But I do take on an occasional contract assignment in my profession of financial accounting. A recruiter ran this one by me, a 4-6 week gig cleaning up some books for a brew pub/restaurant business. I decided to take it on, and thus won’t be able to see too many of these games.

I saw the Rangers hired our old buddy Skippy. Seems like a smart hire.

It’s my understanding that the Dodgers/Phillies game will get underway at 5:08 CT, and that the Cubs/Brewers first pitch is scheduled for 8:08 CT. It’s no big deal but the latter seems like a late starting time for a post-season game played in the Midwest. I can also remember way back when the Pyramids were still being built, most night games played at Busch Memorial Stadium were scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and stayed that way until around the mid-70’s. It was always a good excuse for the kiddos to stay up late on a school night…

The Doppler Radar shows no precipitation in the Philadelphia area tonight. Chances are this game will be played under dry conditions.

However, rain is in the forecast for tomorrow night at Tiger Stadium in Detroit.

Maybe it’s just me, but I anxiously await Rat’s in depth meteorological reports almost as much as I do the game itself. It’s going to be an extremely long arduous winter without them……unless Rat adds a new exciting dimension to his Strat-O-Matic games and starts including weather reports along with the games. Rat?
