The Brewers are an elite team of the ’25 season and it’s baseball, so anything can happen, Pugs. And over in the ALCS, it’s my view that the Blue Jays have now established themselves as the stronger of the two teams and hold the upper hand in the ALCS. But again, it’s baseball and things can change in a big hurry. We’ll see what happens.
Toronto and Seattle are tied 0-0 in the 1st at the Kingdome.
Milwaukee and the Dodgers are also knotted up at 0-0 in the top of the 1st at Doyer Stadium.
Dodgers/Brewers just getting underway at Dodger Stadium and in Seattle the Blue Jays lead the Mariners by a score of 2-1 in the home half of the 7th.
And the Mariners unleash a veritable barrage to push 5 runs across HP in the home half of the 8th. All 5 Seattle runs come via the ol’ tater as Raleigh leads off the inning with a solo HR to tie the game and then Suarez, later in the inning, delivering the death blow with the bases jammed GS. Seattle wins game 5 by a final of 6-2. The Mariners really needed that one prior to this ALCS returning to The Great White North for game 6. This is developing into quite a battle for the AL pennant.
And Ohtani just jacked his 2nd dong of the night.
This one must have been close to 500 feet. I think it went over those pavillion things out in deep center/right center.
And the Dodgers jump out to an early 3-0 lead over the Brewers at Dodger Stadium after Ohtani leads off the home half of the 1st with a solo HR. Little Eddie also with an RBI base hit for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are obviously a really good baseball team, but they’re also playing well at precisely the right time of the year. The bats are generating plenty of offensive production and the arms are pitching effectively. When that happens, a baseball team can transform into a vertitable steamroller. There’s an outside chance thay they may not lose another game in ’25.
My source says that Ohtani’s second HR was estimated to have traveled 469 ft. I’ve watched several replays of that monster HR and, if that baseball landed 469 ft. from HP, the Moon is 500 ft. from Earth…
The Brewers are making a little noise in the visitor half of the 7th with baserunners at 1B and 2B and 0 outs. They deperately need to come away with some runs.
And Vesia blanks the Brewers as he induces a weak IF pop up and a 6-4 GIDP to end the Brewer threat and quite possibly their season.
The line on Ohtani for 6 innings of work is 0 ER’s on only 2 hits with 10 K’s and 3 BB’s…And for an encore he rips 3 gargantuan HR’s. Godzilla now resides in LA…
This Dodgers/Brewers NLCS is making a good case for the need of a salary cap. This series is taking on the appearance of a genuine mismatch between the haves and the have nots. I feel bad for the fans in MIL.
The Dodgers win consecutive NL pennants after brushing the Brewers aside with a 5-1 W in game 4 to complete what appeared to be an easy 4 game sweep in this ’25 NLCS. I’ve always rooted for the NL in the WS, but I almost want to see the AL pennant winner slay Goliath in the upcoming WS, but I just don’t see that happening. These Dodgers are no joke and are, without question, the best baseball team I’ve seen since the Yankees of the mid to late 90’s.
It’s expensive… and small market teams are a major beneficiary. That way, everyone wins, sort of!

Seattle leads 3-2 with Game 6

It’s always a tough call on where to draw the line on how much the “have’s” should contribute to the “have not’s”. I think in professional sports football does the best job of it. They have a little different set up with those national television contracts. Baseball is more of a regional entertainment venue than pro football.
Man, Ohtani is something else. He is one guy that is worth that massive contract. When you can do something no one else can in a $14 billion industry, you can command a handsome salary.
The Mariners absolutely had to win that one last night. I think they still have a tough road and even up 3-2, the series seems like a toss up at best, and the Jays might even be slight favorites.
Meanwhile, we are supposed to line up at the ticket window hoping the Cards will field something better than a 4A squad next year.
We will have to see who the Cards sign out of the FA market or trade for but – barring Bloom going way off script OR about 6 of our developing players getting way better ahead of the curve I expect 78-83 wins and no playoffs BUT the big difference will be that the expectations for 2027 should be to make the playoffs.
Assuming that baseball gets played in 2027…

It’s entirely illogical and disputes the laws of simple arithmetic to declare that the Mariners, who hold a 3-2 games lead in the ALCS are somehow at a disadvantage, but that’s precisely my perception. In any case, Toronto lost both games 1 and 2 in their home ballpark so the Mariners shouldn’t suffer from any lack of confidence when they lace up their cleats to face the Blue Jays in games 6 and, if needed, 7.
Not that it’s a big deal but, best I can tell, there’s no ALCS action until tomorrow evening. I think BW made a simple mistake in a prior comment claiming that game 6 would be played tonight.
First of all congrats to the Brewers on a great season. I don’t care what anyone says but making it to the NLCS with the 23rd highest payroll is a heck of an accomplishment.
Secondly, people laughed at the Dodgers for giving Ohtani $700M. No one is laughing now because that contract is going to look like a steal. I still believe how you spend the money is as important as how much you spend. The Mets spent well over $300M and didn’t even make the playoffs.
Here is the thing about a salary cap. In my opinion MLB already has one. It is called the CBT. I don’t see why there will be a lockout in 2027 over something that already exists. The problem with the CBT is that it isn’t srict enough. Call it what you want but I don’t see what a “salary cap” would accomplish that the CBT couldn’t. Going over the threshold should be more painful so they need to tighten up the existing system instead of delaying the 2027 season over semantics.
