Brewers/Dodgers for the NL Pennant and the Mariners/Blue Jays for the AL Pennant places my baseball gypsy fortune telling visions for the 4 LDS at 3-1. Only the Yankee’s loss to the Blue Jays prevented my trusty deck of tarot cards from running the table. In any case, in the NL the Brewers have no chance against a clearly superior Dodger team and my deck of tarot cards and the images I see in my trusty quartz orb clearly point to the Mariners emerging victorious over the Blue Jays and advancing to their first WS in franchise history only to fall victim to the Dodgers in 5 games…Now that the baseball gypsy fortune telling expert has spoken, place every last dime you have on the Brewers and Blue Jays…

Looking back in the LDS thread, I see that none other than osuagec had the Mariners, Blue Jays, Dodgers and Brewers advancing to the LCS. He picked all 4 teams and really aced it. I’m genuinely concerned that his baseball gypsy fortune telling skills will create some serious competition for my baseball gypsy fortune telling franchise brand…

Yes, as TD wrote, we had a perfect Round 2 by the esteemed Osuagec…….well done sir! Here’s how our Round 2 fearless forecasters fared:

    Osuagec 4-0
    Brian 3-1
    BicycleMike 3-1
    TD 3-1
    Booyah 3-1
    Pugs 2-2
    Stlcard25 2-2
    Rat 1-3
Scotty 0-4…….very rare seeing Scotty wearing the collar on these predictions. Even Wade Boggs swung and missed every now and then, Scotty!

So now, heading into Round 3, here is our 2025 Playoff Predictions leader board:

    Brian 7-1
    Pugs 6-2
    BicycleMike 6-2
    TD 5-3
    Osuagec 5-3
    Stlcard25 5-3
    Rat 4-4
    Booyah 4-4
    Scotty 2-6

Let the predictions commence for Round 3. I’m taking Milwaukee to defeat LA and Toronto to beat Seattle.

Note that all the Wild Cards have been eliminated.

    I take Dodgers and Jays.

Dodgers and Jays will probably be favored – with the Dodgers being picked despite Milwaukee having the best regular season record.

I am going to go the other way though, and pick the teams I want to be in the Series: Mariners and Brewers.

Would love to see that – one team that has never been there and another that has only made it once, and that was 43 years ago. Plus the interesting story line of the Brewers starting out as the Seattle Pilots. So it would be the “old” Seattle team facing the “new” Seattle team.

That Pilots team only had the one year of existence, but were made immortal in Jim Bouton’s classic “Ball Four”. Now, let’s get on with it and go pound some Budweisers! 🙂

Having lived and worked in Toronto in the early 90s when the Jays were hot and winning WSs, I went to a lot of games in the Skydome and developed a soft spot for those birds of another color. So, as long as the Cardinals are not in it, I’ll shout for the guys up north.

Attention all stragglers……Attention all stragglers………we have just over 3 hours remaining until the first pitch is delivered in the great Canadian province of Ontario. We need predictions from the following esteemed fearless forecasters:

    Rat

    Scotty
    TD

    Thank you very much.

I’ve chosen the Mariners to win the AL pennant and the Dodgers to repeat as both NL pennant winners and WS champs, Pugs. Incidentally, nice job on bringing home winner at Miller Park last night. Whatever happens from here on out will be pleasantly complemented with yesterday’s demise of those Cubbies in Milwaukee.

Thanks TD. It was a fun one. I went to a little neighborhood pub near the park after the game to indulge in a few Wild Turkey shots and didn’t get home until just after 3am. It was kind of odd at the bar in that you could feel Bob Uecker’s presence…….others there felt it too. The highlight was singing one of my all-time oldie but goodie songs with about 8 other bar patrons…..”Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire”. Anyway, seeing the long faces of distraught cubbie fans exiting the ballpark was worth the price of admission alone.

In regards to tonight’s ALCS opener, I’d have say that the Miller/Gausman pitching matchup falls in the favor of the Blue Jays. I’d also guess that all of the baseball fans up in the Great White North will really be amped up at the prospect of their Blue Jays advancing to their first WS in over 30 years, so HFA should also come into play and hand another advantage to the Blue Jays. But this is the great game of baseball so when the two best teams in the AL lace up their cleats and step between the white lines to compete in this high stakes contest, anything at all can happen. I’m picking the Mariners to advance to the WS, so I have to look for them to gain at least a split of the first 2 games in Toronto by hanging a W up on the board in tonight’s ALCS opener.

Sounds like you and the Brewer faithful were partying like it was 1982, Pugsie! I guess Front Row Amy was not in attendance or you would have mentioned it.

Hopefully these LCS’ will provide more drama and excitement. Some great wild card and divisional series.

I am rooting for the Mariners, but won’t be too upset f the Blue Birds get into the Halloween Hysteria (formerly Fall Classic). Definitely want those cheeseheads in there. We have seen enough Dodger blue of late.

After Springer taters up to lead-off the game, Miller does his best to tighten the noose around his neck with 2 BB’s but somehow escapes trailing by only 1 run. If I were Wilson, I’d keep a short leash on Miller. I’m aware that it’s a 7 game series, but you can’t simply give games away.

Yes, wish you guys could have been there with me, TD and BicycleMike. It’s one of those nights that will surely put a smile on you face when you reflect back upon it many years later, while rocking back and forth on the front porch with a shawl draped around your back. Yeah no Front Row Amy again, BicycleMike, which won’t put a smile on Rat’s face……unless she was with Rat last evening? Stranger things have certainly happened.

That must have been great Pugs, but it doesn’t compare to the life changing din din I just had. A home cooked catfish fiddler, on a bed of rice, with red creole sauce over the whole thing. Used a turkey fryer to cook the catfish. Two of them fit in there fine. It was glorious.

I don’t think you could possibly place either one of these SP’ers in the stopper category, but in this all important ALCS opener they’ve allowed a total of 4 hits and 1 run between the two of them thru 5 full.

And as I key that in, the guy who amassed 60 HR’s during the regular season annihilates a Gausman mistake to tie this one up at 1 run apiece.

A din-din truly fit for a respected king, TD. Wait until Rat see that.

Seattle with the 2-1 advantage as they head to the 7th in Toronto. Bryce Miller exits after tossing a dandy. I’m thinking Kirk may end up delivering the deciding blow in this one.

That was Bling with the home cooked catfish, Pugs. I’ve tried to deep fry catfish at home andit just never turns out quite as good as when I have it at a restaurant. However, we don’t have one of those turkey fryers that Bling used. I may have to check in to one of those.

Nice mitt on Arozarena out there in LF for the final out of the 7th. As jj likes to say it’s getting, “Late and close.”

From the little I’ve seen of these Mariners this season, they really impress me as a baseball team that seems to always do the little things to win a game that don’t show up in the box score. I don’t think it’s any wonder that the Cardinals were swept in the 3 games that they played against Seattle. These guys don’t seem at all flashy or loaded with offensive firepower and dominant pitching. They just go out there and play solid baseball and get the job done.
