Real nice work from Brash in the 8th on 8 pitches to set down the Blue Jays in order.

I have a close friend who only has over the air TV. We both think it’s incredibly unfair that the ALCS is available over the air on network FOX, but he won’t be able to watch the NLCS in his home as a result of that series being broadcast on TBS. We have an expensive TV set up in which almost all major sporting events are available, but I miss the days when any and all post-season action involving the big 4 team sports were always broadcast over the air. It’s a greedy and self serving world out there nowadays.

And you’d like to think that with the tremendous amounts of extra revenue that MLB, the NFL, and the rest of the sports gang is raking in as a result of their partnership with Vito and the organized gambling sydicates, that they’d throw sports fans a little bone and allow them to watch a little post-season action on over the air TV.

Well, the Mariners hang a 3-1 W up on the board in the ALCS opener on the merit of 4 Seattle pitchers shutting down the Blue Jays on only 2 hits. Not going to win many baseball games with those sorts of bats.

The Seattle catcher is without question living up to billing in these high stakes games. He’s now 10 for 25 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s in the ’25 post-season. I fully expect him to become even more dangerous and productive as this ALCS moves forward.

I was thrilled with the Crew’s win last night, also. Not only because of Pugs, not only because it was the Cubs that had it handed to them, but also because the Brewer’s fans are some of the greatest and the coolest fans anywhere. I went to a Brewers and Cardinals game in Milwaukee when it was still known as Miller Park. What a place to behold! I believe that the Dodgers can be beaten by this group of hungry marauders.

I wouldn’t at all mind seeing the Brewers knock off the Dodgers, Mud. I just don’t think it’ll happen. However, it’s baseball, so it’s entirely possible that they could win this NLCS in a rout. The ’04 WS and the ’90 WS immediately come to mind.

Sorry I am late. I have been out of town and away from the computer for a few days.

I will go with the Dodgers and Blue Jays to win each LCS.

No problem, glad you got your picks in, Scotty. Did you head on over to Texas for the weekend?

Thanks for the kind words about fans in the great city of Milwaukee, Mud. Win, lose or draw, you’re pretty much guaranteed a good time while attending a Brewers game here. And the surrounding areas are littered with quaint, but fun little neighborhood bars. You’ll feel like you’re 25 again while there, as everybody is pretty much treated the same, no matter what your age.

Bet the ranch and all the inhabitants within it’s dusty confines on Toronto tomorrow night, as that team is too darn good to lose 2 straight playoff games at home.

And the following question should probably be best jettisoned on over to Skippy and all of the fine folks over at the esteemed Elias Sports Bureau to answer; counting both regular season and playoff games, has a team ever swept another club by 10+ games? If Milwaukee can sweep LA (highly unlikely), they would win the season series 10-0.

Game 2 of the Seattle/Toronto ALCS gets underway in a little less than 90 minutes, Pugs, with the 22 yr. old rookie Yesavage getting the baseball for the Blue Jays who’s pitching counterpart will be the 28 year old Gilbert taking a post-season turn for the Mariners. I’d say that Toronto almost has to hang a W up on the board before the ALCS moves to Seattle for 3 games. They need to take command of this game 2 early.

The wife and I were actually in Las Vegas for the weekend. Saw the Eagles play at the Sphere. It was a fun time.

My rooting interest is the Mariners and Brewers. But I feel it will likely be Blue Jays and Dodgers winning.

This is a well written article. Sorry if it is behind a paywall. He says we should all be rooting for the Brewers if we want baseball in 2027. (well I think part of that is tounge in cheek and part is serious).

By the way I want I want to give an offical thanks to the Milwaukee Brewers for saving the nation the anguish of dealing with giddy and cocky Chicago Cub fans for a minute longer. Thanks Crew!

A 3 run tater from Rodriguez lifts the Mariners to a 1st inning 3-0 lead. Toronto needs to answer back in a big hurry.

And that’s just what the Blue Jays do as a lead-off double from Springer and an E-3 throwing error allows Springer to cross HP to make it 3-1.

And now a 2 out RBI single from Kirk makes it a 3-2 game. Plenty of action already and we’re still working on our first hot dog…

The Blue Jays really needed to counter with those 2 runs in home half of the 1st.

Boy oh boy…Schneider elects to IBB Raleigh with 1B open and 0 outs in the 5th in a 3-3 game. I know the Seattle catcher’s dangerous, but I’m not sure I like that decision. I mean, Bonds is retired…

And a 3 run tater burns ’em…6-3 Mariners.

I’m aware of the 60 HR’s and all, but I just don’t like the knee jerk IBB to Raleigh. Why not work carefully to him? I just don’t like casually placing more baserunners aboard that early in a tie baseball game.

And a little flare falls in to shallow LF for an RBI base hit from Crawford to make it a 7-3 game in the visitor half of the 6th.

And a 7th inning 2 run tater from Naylor makes it 9-3 and all but guarantees that the Mariners will return home to Seattle with a 2-0 games lead in this ALCS.

Haha…I was just now reminded that the Dodgers were 0-6 against the Brewers during the regular season. I’m reasonably certain that the Brewers think they have a chance in tonight’s NLCS opener…

The Mariners looked what I’d term methodical as they hang a 10-3 W up on the board to take 2-0 games lead over the Blue Jays as the ALCS heads to Seattle. Toronto may be in serious trouble.
