    Koperniak had a good game… 2-H 1-2B 2-RBI and 2 outfield assists.

11 runs with no homers. That’s good to see.

Gave up 3 unearned. Errors by Arenado and Donovan. Gibson wasn’t able to stop the bleading.

Lynn goes in the late game.

Koperniak is still something of a sleeper in that he doesn’t get much ink. That said, he’s looking like the next outfielder up when the need arises.

Nice to see Romero rounding into shape. Over his 3 outings in the last week: IP 3, H 0, ER 0, BB 0, SO 4

Another good outing by O’Brien. If O’Brien works out for the better, he is the new and unrivaled poster boy for ‘low hanging fruit’, IMO.

Isn’t it pretty much understood that Donovan, Carlson and Jordan are the primary 3 OF’ers when the season begins?

I hope not. Slow and easy on Donovans elbow was the game plan (DH/2B). Has he played any OF this ST?

I doubt Donovan will be the starting LF. Burleson in LF. I think they might bring Siani north as a bench CF relief, unless Noot’s return will be imminent. That would also allow for late inning outfield defensive upgrade. I don’t think they will start out with Scott only to send him back when Noot returns.

So, what’s the plan for the DH slot?

1TD – I believe it will be Contreras approximately 30% of the time, Gorman maybe 20% of the time, and then either Donovan or whomever Donovan is subbing in for the rest of the time (I guess that includes him subbing out Gorman in Gorman’s 20%). Burleson may also pickup 10-15% if outfielders continue to be injured and he remains on the roster.

What about the big kid from Luckenbach? Will he even make the team?

I would be surprised if they even have a plan for the DH other than whoever isn’t in the lineup that day. Once Edman and Noot returns maybe something that makes some kind of sense will emerge.

In the late game vs Mets, Lynn gave up a homer in the second, then another run and was pulled with two outs, down 2-1. Gave up two hits and I think 3 walks.

The “Big Kid” ain’t going to make the team. He’s headed back to AAA where he destroyed pitchers left and right last year. Goal is he has to hit 60 homers this time to get called back up.

Haha!…He’s listed at almost 300 lbs. He may have to rip 60 taters to justify his meal ticket at Memphis.

He’s fun to watch at Memphis. He’s sooo big. I think there would actually be some excitement around him if Goldschmidt weren’t such a fixture.

I just saw and was reminded that he ripped 33 HR’s in 84 games at Memphis. As big as he is there’s no doubt that it’s impressive when he walks into one and really connects. Adam Dunn was listed at the same 285 lbs. If Dunn were playing today, it’s my guess that he’d be one of the highest paid players in the game.

I remember in 7th grade one morning Bernie came to class and started to tell everyone, including the lady teacher, that “He died on the pot!”

Apparently a man in town had passed away the night before while he was on the pot. And Bernie made sure everybody knew that he had died on the pot.

Thought I would pass this story along.

I think if the org had any interest in Baker he would have been in the lineup at DH or 1B every game from the sell off until the end of the season. As it is, he’s had 99 PAs and OPSed .627.

I just checked and he was afforded quite a few looks from mid August until season’s end. I’m pretty sure it was hoped he’d do more with his chance than to scratch out 2 HR’s and 10 RBI’s. That won’t feed a 285 pounder…

A compelling performance by Baker would have altered the Goldy extension landscape. But it didn’t happen.

I am thinking that Baker has two options remaining, one of which is likely to be used this year, making 2025 is last. If Goldy is extended beyond 2025, then its all over for Baker. An issue that might come up is whether there is another 1B only type with more runway coming up behind Baker, and if so, what to do.

I guess it could be mentioned that he’s had close to 50 PAs this spring and done nothing at all with it. OPS under .600.

Firmin now leads the team in homers with 2. We’re doomed.

Actually, Firmin was tied with Carlson for the team lead, but now Carlson hit a salami in the 4th and now has 3 homers.

Meanwhile Carpenter has his BA over .400 and OPS over 1.000
