Mets add a third run in the seventh with a small ball outburst against Max Rajcic.

Seven Mets relievers limited the Cards to five hits and a walk as the home team won, 3-0. Romero took the loss in the 1:59 game. Burleson had two singles and Pages doubled. St. Louis is 2-2-2 on the spring.

Thanks for the commentary Brian. All I had time to do at work was take a peek now and then.

I am hoping Romero picks up where he left off, but its possible last year was an outlier.

Boy, those Mets were supposed to be world beaters last season and ended up on pace with the Cardinals as the most disappointing team in Big Leagues.

I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to detest another team to the extent of the utter contempt I once held for the NY Mets of the mid 80’s. Those teams were the personification of evil to this Cardinal fan. No Cub’s team in my memory even comes close. The Cardinals/Mets of the mid 80’s was a genuine blood feud and, in my view, those types of rivalries no longer exist in baseball. In addition to division structuring and scheduling, it’s no longer permitted for someone to express genuine hatred for something that is obviously entirely evil and wrong…

I’m not sure we’re average yet, Oliver. Last I checked we were 20 games under…Haha!

In CF, Carlson didn’t get to a ball that looked catchable

He ony has 1,511 major league innings in CF, maybe he will get better.

Yeah, but the gypsies will find a new toy to play with this season. And Oli is a year wiser.

    Thanks for the commentary Brian.

bling, was that commentary or PBP? I’m wondering if Brian fired Pugs. Or did Pugs and his union negotiate for just regular season duty?

Pugs would have to do a lot to get thrown out, though he once came very close some years back. He marches to the beat of his own drummer, but will surely reappear by opening day.

Very interesting analysis and commentary. I’d like to hear Blake’s and Brian’s thoughts on Pallante’s new ‘death ball’ that he worked on during the offseason at Tread Athletics.

I read it’s the Gallegos slider he’s been working on, which has that 1 to 7 o’clock tilt.

Anybody watching today let us know how Carp looks in the field and at the plate. Wish him the best.

Rough start for Gibson. Back-to-back solo homers from Lane Thomas and James Wood. Cards down 2-0 before they collected the first out.

Single, ground out and two wild pitches, and the Nats go up 3-0 in the second.

Carp quickly fanned in his first AB vs. Patrick Corbin.

Second time up, Carp flied out to CF. Looked fine in routine chances at first. Left for Luken Baker in the fifth.

Offense again is not hitting with three hits through five innings. Best threat has been single by Walker and double by Winn, but with two in scoring position with one out in the second, Scott and Raposo couldn’t get them in.

McGreevy threw two scoreless innings. One hit and one K.

Prieto has made a couple of nice plays at 3B.

It was on a breaking pitch, too… Kloffenstein threw two scoreless innings. One hit, one walk, one K.

Thanks for the commentary again. When I saw we had a run I hoped someone had finally hit a homer.

‘I will make note to ask Blake about Pallante on the next podcast’

Thank you. I’ll be looking forward to it.

Also, thanks for picking up my comment even though I accidentally posted it on the wrong thread here. Obviously, it should have been posted on the WWW thread.
