All spring games will be on this thread, rather than for each game as during the regular season. Let’s try to keep this thread to spring game-specific talk. Thanks.

    Wainwright.

That probably answers the opening day starter question.

If there really was such a question…

So no surprise injuries so far this year? I really hate when a pitcher reports and it turns out he needs surgery that he should have got in October.

They’re only throwing bullpens now Mr P, but its ramping up. It won’t be long until somebody gets shut down. “Out of an abundance of caution”.

If Flaherty is healthy, why wouldn’t he be the opening day starter?

Any news on other pitchers pitching the first couple games..?
I am trying to get to a game and see Woodford pitch. I heard a rumor he might go
    after Waino..? anyone.?

    good question.. bccran.?
If he is to be our savior, and is healthy, he should be our #1 on opening day.

Actually, lets just hope he gets through Spring Training..! and go from there.
As we all know, a shoulder is very tricky to get healthy.

Just as a reminder, we have another thread focused on the regular season Opening Day starter. A lot of points have already been made there.

Connor Thomas will start on Monday against the Mets instead of Jack Flaherty. Flaherty will work in a simulated game on the backfields to focus on specific situations, not an unusual or alarming happening.

The plan for Tuesday is for Jordan Montgomery and Steven Matz to throw in a simulated game. Matthew Liberatore will start the regular game against the Nationals and Gordon Graceffo will follow.

Notice that Woody doesn’t need to be working on stuff on the back fields.

The pitching plan for each day is made available to the media that morning.

Reminder that tomorrow (Saturday) is Game 1! Noon CT on Bally Sports Midwest.

DeJong at DH. Get him as many ST at bats and see what you have I guess.

I think this is a case of if they keep him he will continue to struggle and they cut him loose he’ll go somewhere else and be very good…..

Well, I’m happy to see that I can find the ST opener on our cable set-up. Some of the chatter about all of the TV changes had me a little concerned that I’d have trouble navigating the fiasco. This game’s almost like a ST’ing for me in the sense that I’m getting back up to speed concerning finding which channel to tune into to watch the action…At any rate, I found it on Bally’s Sports Midwest which is channel #1748 on our TV system. The simple fact that I even have a channel #1748 tells me that something’s inherently wrong…Haha!

I tuned in and wondered why the Cards were playing the Braves. I would’ve sworn it was supposed to be the Nats.

Bucknor, Hernandez and Kulpa working the game. How often do you get 3 of the worst 5 umps working the diamond at the same time?

    Brian or anyone

Anyone have any contacts at all with Bally? Or the guys on the video crew?

I get that it’s the first ST game but can they raise the camera just a little so we can actually see the plate? Even a little sliver of white would be helpful

    It’s never been this low

Not too often, Euro, but now that Big League baseball has it’s foot firmly planted into legalized sports wagering, it make sense to get these three guys operating in unison with one another…One to make the outlandish and game changing call, one to decipher the one time pad signaling the location of the envelope, and one to surreptitiously make his way to the area of the dead drop…All of these things are meticulously planned and coordinated and require a well trained and practiced team to have them be carried out and achieved successfully…
