1. Lars Nootbaar RF
2. Albert Pujols DH
3. Paul Goldschmidt 1B
4. Nolan Arenado 3B
5. Brendan Donovan 2B
6. Dylan Carlson CF
7. Corey Dickerson LF
8. Yadier Molina C
9. Tommy Edman SSOctober 7, 2022 at 10:12 am #203539I don’t like Donovan in the 5 slot and if Molina reaches base in front of Eddie he’s basically neutralized on the base paths. I like the personel, but not the order.
October 7, 2022 at 10:22 am #203540But where can you put Molina 1TD? You almost have to hide him in front of DeJong so he can’t hold us up on the base paths.

stlcard25ParticipantHas this been a lineup that we’ve used at all this season? I don’t recall it. Kind of looks to me like a manager trying to get too cute rather than simply going with what’s gotten you to this point.
October 7, 2022 at 11:41 am #203545socalcardsfan…Place Molina in the 6 slot behind Albert and in front of Dickerson. Donovan in the 2 slot where he belongs.
October 7, 2022 at 11:42 am #203546I hate that line up.
October 7, 2022 at 11:45 am #203548Rays/Indians 0-0 in the home half of the 3rd.
October 7, 2022 at 11:50 am #203549The line-up is obvious but the order is wrong. I would have gone:
1. Donavan
2. Edman
3. Goldschmidt
4. Arenado
5. Pujols
6. Nootbar
7. Carlson
8. Molina
9. DickersonOctober 7, 2022 at 11:55 am #203550I’m sure everyone realizes that in the case of Molina reaching base ahead of Eddie, it potentially eliminates numerous possibilities. The SB is gone. The possibility of a double by Eddie is greatly reduced. The possibility of an Edman triple vanishes. It effectively eliminates Eddie going from 1B to 3B on a base hit, or scoring from 1B on a double. It’s inane to place Molina in front of the biggest threat on the basepaths that the Redbirds possess. I don’t get it. It almost makes me hope that Yadier goes 0 for 4.
October 7, 2022 at 12:02 pm #203551GameCard…Make a phone call and plead with them…Haha!
October 7, 2022 at 12:23 pm #2035561td…I hope with this current order that Yadi goes 4 for 4 with 2 HRs and 2 doubles.
October 7, 2022 at 12:42 pm #203557GameCard…Molina’s always shown up to play for high stakes games.
October 7, 2022 at 12:43 pm #203558I’m not worried about that. If Molina is on then who cares if Edman can’t steal, there’s already a runner on 2B. Takes away some 1st to 3rd.
The main thing is Donovan has to be leading off. There’s no reason he should be down in the order. 2 should be Nootbaar or Edman. I prefer Edman, because I’d hit Nootbaar 5th and Pujols 6th.October 7, 2022 at 12:54 pm #203559Cards667…Yadier isn’t going 1st to 3rd on a base hit by Edman. No SB. No posssible triple. And if Molina’s on 1B ahead of Edman, there’s a good chance it eliminates the possiblity of Edman taking a extra base on a base hit. Doesn’t make sense.
October 7, 2022 at 12:58 pm #203560Edman has hit 9th often this year, behind the catcher. Not that big of deal. It doesn’t matter who hits behind Molina you’re going to run into the problem. And while Edman is the best base stealer, if there’s already a runner on 2B he’s not stealing anyway no matter who’s in front of him. The only thing I see a problem with is if Yadi is on 2B and Edman on 1st and Nootbaar gets a single, chances are Molina isn’t scoring which makes Edman unable to go 1st to 3rd. But there’s a lot of “if” in there.
October 7, 2022 at 12:58 pm #203561Cleveland leads Tampa Bay 2-1 and it’s 7th inning stretch.
FYI, I am predicting Tampa Bay to take this series. The other series winners are Philadelphia, New York Mets, and Toronto.

October 7, 2022 at 1:06 pm #203562667…Dickerson behind Yadi isn’t the same as Eddie. Eddie can fly.
October 7, 2022 at 1:09 pm #203563The main problem I have is not having a legitimate 2 or 5 hitter. Pujols is best 6th. 1 should be Donovan, but Edman or Nootbaar can. But Mo put all his money on his man crush, then he showed 2021 was just a fluke and he can’t stay healthy, Gorman can’t make contact, so on. Donovan is an on base machine and should be 1. I like Edman 2. Good base running ability to take an extra bag in front of Goldschmidt and Arenado. Then I like Nootbaar 5. He’s got some pop, but also the ability to be on base in front of Pujols and the LF hitting 7th. The LF could be Dickerson or Yepez. C 8th. Then Carlson 9th. There was a lot of bets put on Carlson too who’s struggled badly. Ideally he would have developed into the 2nd or 5th hitter too. But he’s got to play CF now and hope he gets things figured out at the plate hitting 9th and he’s a good base runner if he was on base in front of the top of the order. Only thing that makes any sense to me with the way it’s all played out.

jj-cf-stlParticipantDonovan and Edman have gone 0-fer vs Wheeler this season. Oli pushed them back and is using Noot and Pujols instead, and their zero PA’s vs wheeler. Maybe they can ambush him and take away Wheeler’s familiarity with past table setters. Worth a try.
October 7, 2022 at 1:10 pm #203565Schwarber with 46 HR’s and only 94 RBI. He’s your prototypical lead-off guy…
October 7, 2022 at 1:20 pm #203566Thought he got it.
October 7, 2022 at 1:26 pm #203567Not so good ABs by Goldy and Arenado.
October 7, 2022 at 1:32 pm #203568
jj-cf-stlParticipantNice play Dylan
October 7, 2022 at 1:33 pm #203569Missed the whole top of the 2nd due to what looks like local technical difficulties. They better get it sorted out quickly.
October 7, 2022 at 1:33 pm #203570Quick and efficient 2nd for Quintana
