Flores has proved he knows what he is doing so I trust that this pick will work for us! Looking forward to the rest of the draft!

Well gscottar, if he has the career Tudor had for us, that will be great. Only thing is Tudor did have a lot of injuries, one of the downsides to the way he and this guy throw. I think pitch management is going to be big with him but if they do it right, may be a big steal for us.

Has kind of a jink in his arm motion. No downhill. We will have to see what he looks like once our system works him over.

Question for those who know. About the high schoolers teams are drafting. What happens if a guy decides to go to college, a lot of them are committed

Any idea who the Cards will target in the 2nd round? I haven’t taken the time to school myself on the prospects, but it seems that teams are taking players that are ranked down the list in their early picks. Might be a set up for the Cards to get a higher ranked player for the second pick!

willie, I think the team gets a comp round pick the next year. Like the Mets got.

Right Mets drafted Rocker last year and got a comp pick since he didn’t sign with them….it’s the same with high school players I think….NIL is also a factor this year with high schoolers but I’m not sure how much a college baseball player can get….but this might be more of a factor in the later rounds with high school and college players

Willie, if they don’t sign, they get the pick after their pick they “wasted”. As an example, if the Cards don’t sign Hjerpe from the #22 spot this year, they would get the #23 next year.

Well I read up on it. If a drafted high school player decides to go to college instead, they aren’t eligible for the draft until three years after high school or two if they went to junior college. It didn’t say if the team gets a compensory pick or not.

If Prielipp is still available going into the comp round, give up whatever is needed to get him….. I’d trade Nunez and Gomez for him.

Rays had a deal worked out, they were saving money to load up on a few “fallers”. A little surprised they went that low though.

My buddy/neighbor is friends with Silverman, they would have taken a bag of balls with that pick just to load up for later if needed.

Prielipp didn’t pitch this year because of TJ surgery.

I’m thinking some of these lower seeded HS players that haven’t been picked yet (two guys ranked under 20) would be hard to sign and the teams know that. Really interested where the Cards will go with this next pick.

Has anyone looked into all of the guys the Cards will need to protect on the 40 man before December?
