I noticed last night that it looks as though Carlson has lost some weight
I have my own nicknames I call players. Carlson has always been “skinny legs”.
Who just saw Hoerner field Donovan’s grounder and thinks that’s bad form? You see it a lot more these days. Coaches would give you a lot grief for that back in the day.
Goldy now gives the Cards a 2-out double, but it is also wasted.
I don’t understand why they don’t play Donavan at 2B and DH Groman
I’m not going to hate on Gorman. I think he is the 2B of the future and think defensively he’s fine. I don’t think he’ll ever live up to the #1 prospect media hype, but I think he’ll be a serviceable 2B that will produced .250-.260 with a decent number of walks and doubles and will rack up some K’s and HR. I don’t think the HR numbers will ever match the “raw power” because of the swing and miss. But, I think they should definitely be in putting the best lineup on the field they can and to me that would be DFA DeJong and call up Yepez, and Gorman only part time right now. Donovan at 2B and DH Dickerson, Yepez, Pujols. I don’t know who backs up Edman at SS in that situation, I guess Donovan and Gorman is the 2B in that situation. I know they want to commit to Gorman, but I don’t think he’s the best option right now, maybe he is next year, but not to me and winning right now.

If Dickerson goes on contact, that might’ve been a close play. But going like he did after the throw was suicide. Wonder what Warner told him?

I thought the general rule in that situation was on a ground ball the runner on third goes on contact tô avoid the Double play. Only exception would be if runner on first was stealing
Edman with a leadoff single to set the table for the top of the order. Gonna score this inning I think.
CC, that’s the way it often goes. I wondered if Dickerson froze because the ball was hit directly in his direction. That’s why I was wondering what Pop had told him.

Wives and baseball…Years ago, I was watching a crucial late season Redbird game in which they trailed in the late innings. Pujols came to bat with the bases jammed, 2 outs and the outcome of the ballgame on the line. In a very uncommon occurence, the great slugger K’d and I immediately shouted numerous expletives and launched into a temper tantrum consistent with an 8 year old boy. My wife looked at me for a second and said, “I thought you said he was good?”…They really know the right buttons to push….
This is not the same Curtis Dickerson that we saw the first half of the season……it just can’t be.
