And Milwaukee and Arizona are tied 4-4 in the 6th at the BOB. Burnes is on the hill for the Brewers. Could we possibly have an 8.5 game lead heading into tomorrows game?

I wonder if there has been any consideration to having Carlson only bat right handed against all pitchers. He seems to bat better as a right hander.

Something fishy about this forecast, Rat. I believe this is the first time I’ve ever seen an oddball number like 57% being utilized in a chance of precipitation projection. Let’s hope the rains stay away, especially since Cardinals27 is en route to the game as we speak.
What’s for din-din tonight one may ask? It appears that the wifey has roast duck and smoked salmon on tap. I’m not sure as to their accompaniments yet, other than dessert, which will be a large bowl of Breyer’s chocolate peanut butter ice cream with a bunch of Planter’s salted peanuts mingled in and a big splash of whole milk.
I don’t understand why they don’t play Donavan at 2B and DH Groman.
Because “Gorman is the everyday second baseman of the future” was wrote in ink before he did anything that matters.
I have to say that I really like how the Redbird manager is swapping out the 1 and 9 slots in the line-up according to pitching match-ups. Obviously a lot of how an order turns over during the course of a ballgame is dependent on dumb luck, but it seems to have nicely fallen into place just as Marmol has envisioned.

Well, he shouldn’t be. IMO, he is a left-fielder or a DH. Nothing more.
I think Gorman is considered a better defensive player than Donovan. He has made a few bad plays in his young career, but he looks like the range and arm are there and that he will indeed be a plus defender.
Now Donovan has looked pretty good too, no matter where you put him. But I think the guys that see these players all the time say that Gorman is the better defensive player.
Some banter about Tommy E on the Saturday thread. I agree with most that he is one of those guys you love to have on your team as he has that look of a winning ball player. My only criticism of his game is he never uses the bunt. He would be almost unstoppable if he could put the ball in play most anywhere by laying it down. But that is not to say I don’t want him on my club. It’s more like complaining about the mole on Marilyn Monroe’s face. I had the a similar criticisms, if you want to call it that, of Albert Pujols in his prime. The one part of his game I did not like was his not running out ground balls. With Tommy it is his not squaring up now and then when the bunt would be a great option.
It is just a matter of time now before we claim the division crown. It will happen. But the post season will be tough as our top line starters cannot match the top tier rotation of Los Angeles, Atlanta, and the New York National League ball club. But as 1TD likes to say, “you never know”.
Bunting, going to the opposite field and being more selective at the plate would make Eddie more productive offensively. If your goal is to play mediocre infield defense then Gorman is ok at 2B because he is mediocre at best at second.
Although it didn’t surprise me too awfully much, a visit was paid to the broadcast booth last night by possibly the greatest defensive SS of all-time. During the visit he was asked by one of the Redbird broadcasters what he thought of the player who at that particular time was manned up at the 2B position. His response was, “I really, really like him…He could’ve played with us.” That’s all I needed to know.
I wholeheartedly agree with everyone who feels that Eddie would be well served by, at times, deploying the bunt to reach base. I’d also like to see a bit more plate discipline to allow him reach base more often via the BB. I’ll never turn my nose up when taters are served, but with his recent power surge, I always worry that little Eddie may get too tater happy. Doubles are where it’s at for Eddie.
Carlson’s lot in life has certainly plummeted. From when he was covering for Bader to being glued to the bench. My thinking is Gorman is dangerously close to that same trajectory. He needs to have a good game very badly. With Ollie, or maybe its with Mollie, a guy can play himself onto the bench (Carlson, DeJong), and he can play himself off the bench (Dickerson).
Bling…Both Pugs and I noticed last night that it looks as though Carlson has lost some weight. At first, I thought it was just me or the camera angle of him stepping into the batter’s box, but now I think all he may need is a few meals of pork chops with some rice and gravy. No kidding.
TD I would figure the biometrics wonks got his brain turned sideways like they did to DeJong. They probably ran an algo that proved he was too bulked up.
