It’s amazing that we were 3 games behind at the trade deadline, and on the verge of 5 games ahead now.

ParticipantGood win though some shaky pitching by Hudson and hicks. Celebrate the good though
August 20, 2022 at 10:56 pm #196698The team is five games in front. That is all that matters.
August 20, 2022 at 10:57 pm #196699Wow….. back-to-back in game siestas……hope I don’t have some sort of sleeping disorder. 16-7 Birds your final. And what’s not to like about this JoJo Romero fellow? Wonder if he’s related to JoJo White in any fashion?
August 20, 2022 at 10:57 pm #196700Very true C27. Mo made the moves he needed to make and the Brewers imploded.
August 20, 2022 at 11:01 pm #196701I wish Mo was as good in adding free agents, as trades. Other than the Ozuna trade which was disastrous, most of his trades have been good to great.
August 20, 2022 at 11:04 pm #196702Great win, we are on a roll! Gotta keep it going!
August 20, 2022 at 11:06 pm #196703If not for Paul Goldschmidt, Pujols may win the NL player of the month.
August 20, 2022 at 11:18 pm #196704Sad thing is, Atlanta feeling the burden of Ozuna now! Just arrested for another DUI
August 20, 2022 at 11:22 pm #196705After tatering up twice, Pujols’ long single to lead off the 6th was perhaps the hardest ball he hit all night. The game was tied 4-4 at that point and he attempted a SB to try to catch the DBacks napping and place himself into scoring position with no outs for the go ahead run. Well, he was CS, but what I’m driving at is that he’s obviously not playing simply to put up gaudy personal numbers in the final year of one of the all time greatest careers ever on record in the Big Leagues. Albert Pujols is still playing the game of baseball for a singular purpose. Pujols is playing to help his team to win. And that’s the primary reason he’s The Great Pujols.
August 20, 2022 at 11:26 pm #196706Pugs…Ha! “Jo Jo White” St. Louis native.
August 20, 2022 at 11:30 pm #196707Imagine when Nolan Gorman tells his grand kids that he was once called upon to PH for the Great Pujols and came thru with a 2 RBI base hit.
August 20, 2022 at 11:50 pm #196710Pugs please take another siesta tomorrow, and we’ll go for Pugs siesta sweep.
August 21, 2022 at 4:59 am #196715Funny Cardinals27! Yeah, I don’t get it. I’m well into my 50’s now and have never copped any siestas during Cardinals games before. Now it’s back-to-back games where I’ve zzz’d out. Maybe old age is finally setting in? If you guys see me start having beets, yams and rice pudding instead of Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies in my din-din delights, then we’ll know I’m about ready for the glue factory.
August 21, 2022 at 7:28 am #196721I rarely stay up for the end of games these days, but I get to wake up to some nice box scores lately. The 20 game win streak is off to a great start, we are up to 6 in a row now.
The early exit of Hudson was a perfect scenario for Woody to come in, but we know about that.
Any observations about Hicks?

ParticipantVery fine win. Another sweep would be great..
August 21, 2022 at 8:57 am #196724
jj-cf-stlParticipantHudson with a clunker, game score of 38.
Then Hicks welcomes the D’backs back in the game, and the lineup said not tonight, and just went off.

jj-cf-stlParticipantKnizner 2 for 4 with a BB. After 218 PA’s this season his ops+ is at 72.
League avg at catcher is an 89 ops+ so a good finish to the season and he may get there.
In 55 July PA’s Andrew posted a 90 ops+.
In just 19 Aug PA’s he is a 98 ops+.Knizner will be an Arb1 in 2023, and a FA in 2026.
August 21, 2022 at 9:34 am #196736Hudson and Hicks really need to be working out the kinks in Memphis.
I think they will both return to form but neither are ready just yet…
August 21, 2022 at 10:31 am #196740The last time Hicks was on the mound for a decent amount of innings was 2018. At some point the organization needs to decide the MiLB reps would be better spent on somebody who might reasonably be expected to be a reliable contributor. With the IL history its hard to figure how many option years he might have left.
The system has a few pitchers whose development path was garbled for one reason or another. Hudson is one and I don’t know what should be done or what the future holds. You can’t undo what has been done. Libby and Thompson are other examples.

Pugs… rumor has it that Jo Jo Romeri is a nephew of KiKi Calero. Jo Jo Romero…KiKi Calero. Sounds convincing.
August 21, 2022 at 12:22 pm #196753KiKi C…….sweet, didn’t know that, Nyquist. JoJo looked great in his one inning of labor last night. He’s well on his way to making us forget all about Edmundo…….Sosa. See, I’m already struggling with Edmundo’s last name.
