Pugs? Jasper downed Evansville Memorial last night 34-10. It was actually a closer game than the score indicates. Next week it’s Evansville Harrison, also at home.

And did anybody see Hader melt down again in the 9th last night? Two nights in a row. A walk, then he throws the ball away on a dribbler, then BOOM – a three run homer. I suspect Milwaukee might have known something that San Diego didn’t.

Din-din today will be a center cut rib chop in the air fryer, some Aces High Sweet Corn, Pepsi, and a piece of Cherry Pie from the Amish restaurant along with the remaining homemade ice cream.

Hudson is litterally pitching tô continue his career as a Cardinal. Unless he pitchers extremely well he will lose his rotation spot tô Flaherty or Martz. If that happens, depending if the Cardinals re-sign Waino/Quintana/FA there Will be no spot next year for Hudson and he likely Will be traded in the off season.

Hudson is pitching for his spot in the rotation and DeJong is playing for his spot in the lineup.

Yep, without any question Dak’s work this evening will determine whether or not he gets another turn in the 5 man for a while. The worst part of that situation may be that he undoubtedly knows that to be the case. It’ll be difficult for him to erase that thought from his mind, but if he can stay focused and establish command of his fastball/cutter and slider early in the game, I think he’ll turn in a good night’s work. I’ve always thought that his off speed offerings were a bit inferior, but when he commands his two best pitches, he can occasionally mix in the curve or change up and be remarkably effective. Oh well, I guess that goes without saying so.

Yep, Dak’s poor command is the issue. If he throws strikes, that sinker is a great out pitch and he can be a decent rotation member. But because he has not been able to throw strikes he struggles

It might be that he will get better with time. The year off may have taken something away that he needs time to get back to a good rhythm.

DeJong is done. The only reason he plays is the club feels they need to keep him in there with the commitment they made, and he picks the ball well. I would look to the future, and improve the present by playing Gorman every day, with Edman sliding over to six. But at least for now that is not happening too often.

To add on about DeJong, I think he is a good guy and everyone is rooting for him. So there is hope that something will click and he will revert back to his rookie form.

But truthfully, the odds are slim on that happening. His career has been a downhill slide for several years.

Someone asked about Helsley. According to the StL newspaper, he’ll be available to pitch in Monday evening’s game at Wrigley. In regards to the status of the baby…The allocation of cigars in pending.

I was checking on something earlier this morning on a handful of baseball statistic sites and came across a name that I’d forgotten. I certainly wish it would have remained that way. Scooter Gennet… Now, I’m once again mortified by the thought that my favorite team allowed a guy named “Scooter” to tater up 4 times against them in a ballgame. How entirely humiliating is that?

Hoping our Birds keep on running this streak. They’ve been making my morning wakeups a pleasure for the most part. I’m really enjoying watching these youngsters come alive. The future looks bright.

Tonight the CiF household consumed chicken breasts chopped into cubes and sauteed in butter and parsley with wild rice and ratatouille. Madame CiF decided I didn’t want any dessert. However I persuaded her to permit me a small bowl of applesauce sprinkled with cinnamon.

    Rah Cardinals!

I haven’t had any apple sauce for a while CiF, but you’ve given me an idea. Next time we have pork chops, I’m going to ask my supervisor/wife to compliment them with some apple sauce. Thanks for the thought!

.339 BA places 1st. 30 HR’s places 3rd, 4 off the pace. 96 RBI’s, places 2nd, 6 off the pace. Always an incredibly difficult feat to accomplish, but right now he’s got a realistic chance to become the first guy in the NL to hit the trifecta in 85 years. Without a doubt Goldy’s the NL MVP right now and quite possibly the best all around hitter in the entire Big Leagues. He may or may not achieve a TC, but it’ll be fun to watch him try.

Is the triple crown easier or more difficult to win in this era? I remember many years you had guys like Carew, Rose, Gwynn, Boggs, Brett, etc., who you knew were likely take the batting title, yet not sniff the HR / RBI categories. Since there aren’t as many of those guys these days with the focus on power, maybe a TC winner is more likely?

Yadi was really laboring as he rounded 2B on his way to being thrown out at 3B last night. I wonder if he did something on that play?

Oops, I just noticed it is Restricted List and not IL. Took a quick look on Twitter and there is some speculation there if you care to look.

Goold said, “business reasons that he had to return to Puerto Rico”.

What is going on with him? This is the 3rd time that he has had to go to Puerto Rico…he missed Spring training, hurt his knee and now this. I know anyone associated with the Cardinals doesn’t want to say anything bad about him but these are coincidences.

With only one Triple Crown winner since 1967(Miguel Cabrera in 2012), our present era is definitely the toughest era to achieve this coveted feat, Euro Dandy. An amazing 7 TC winners in the 1930’s.

A most impressive victory last night in Jasper, Indiana, from Rat’s favorite high school football team. With Jasper and St. Louis winning and his Friday night catfish fiddler night at the Amish restaurant on the lake, it was indeed a very good Friday for Rat.

I hate to admit it, but I fell asleep during last night’s Cards game. No excuse for this whatsoever. If the Cards had been winning 13-0 then you would have had to given me a free pass. Falling asleep in a close Cards game is sort of on par with falling asleep on Miss June in the midst of your first romantic encounter. Well, the only thing I can do is to get on up off the turf, dust myself off and get right back on the Game Thread saddle this evening.

Cardinal In France’s applesauce with cinnamon is a winner. After reading CIF’s post, how can you not indulge in the same for your din-din tonight?

Yep, I think unless he’s injured, it’s time to move on from Yadi……. which after all of these years is sad.

He owns a local basketball, they are in the finals. I think they are ahead 3-2 now.

Why would the Cardinals allow him to leave for a basketball game? I think he is out of control.
