The Rockies, and probably every club, does the same thing as far as tickets prices. Sometimes I wonder if it will ever end as far as the constant chase of the almighty dollar.
The thought that comes to mind is whether or not pro sports will go the way big time college athletics has gone. In baseball for example, will the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Giants and maybe Mets get together someday and pull out of the current MLB structure to create their own league?
August 7, 2022 at 1:19 pm #194386You don’t see too many 1st baseman as leadoff hitters. The Yanks have two of them in Rizzo and Lemahieu…….the later leads this game off with a double. Judge grounds out to Edman with Lemahieu advancing to 3rd. Here’s Carp on the receiving end of another rousing ovation……he lifts a fly ball to relatively short right field…….Nooty has it and his throw home will be much too late as Lemahieu crosses home with today’s first run. Donaldson strikes out to retire the side.
August 7, 2022 at 1:30 pm #194390A nice piece of hitting there by Carlson to go the other way with it.
August 7, 2022 at 1:36 pm #194391Bottom of 1. Frankie Montas dealing for the pinstripers.
Carlson goes the other way and slaps it thru the vacant left side and out into left field for a base knock.
Donovan is hit near the left wrist area…..looks none the worse for the physically hurtful experience and trots on down to 1st base.
Goldy pops out to 2nd base.
Arenado …..slaps a ground ball base hit to left….and Carlson is rounding 3rd and heading on home…..he slides safely in and this game is tied at 1.
O’Neill strikes out swinging.
Nooty grounds it out to Lemahieu wide of 1st base where he’ll gather it and and shuffle it on over to a streaking Montas to retire the side.

Yanks 1August 7, 2022 at 1:41 pm #194393A couple more runs in the 1st would have raised my comfort level. Oh well…
August 7, 2022 at 1:46 pm #194394At least we can get to Montas a little bit. Hopefully he is not one who settles in and becomes unhittable.
August 7, 2022 at 1:49 pm #194395Hicks breaks a 0 for 32 skid. Bader gets healthy, the opportunity will be waiting.
August 7, 2022 at 1:53 pm #194396Waino with 18 1st inning heaves. Torres leads off with a base hit to right and N. Y. is 2-2 in the leadoff hit department on this young afternoon. Benintendi rifles a shot just barely over Waino’s head and out into center field for a hit with Torres stopping at 2nd. Hicks cues a little shot out into left field for a base hit and in comes Torres with the lead run and things are looking pretty rosey for New York here in the top of the 2nd. Trevino strikes out swinging and if Waino can escape this inning with only one run worth of damage, it’ll be a positive for Waino and the Redbirds. Gonzalez is hit above the left elbow and that will load the bases up to their maximum capacity. Lemahieu strikes out looking! Judge….first pitch was right down Broadway and inexplicably is called a ball…..the ump had to have been totally daydreaming on that one……for his sake I hope it was a good dream as the league office is going to see that one for future usage on how not to call balls and strikes in their training classes for rookie umpires …. Judge lines a base hit to center and two runs are going to score. …4-1 Yankees. Carp on 3-2 walks and that’s 49 pitches for Waino already…..Maddux coming out to pay him a little visit. Donaldson
August 7, 2022 at 1:58 pm #194397Man, Waino gave Judge a meatball on a 2 strike count.
August 7, 2022 at 2:02 pm #194398Well weekend was fun while it lasted…AW getting blasted today!
August 7, 2022 at 2:02 pm #194399Wow, Maddux going out to talk to Wainwright in the 2nd. What do you tell a guy who has been in the League almost 20 years.
August 7, 2022 at 2:05 pm #194400That umpire isn’t doing us any favors either.
August 7, 2022 at 2:06 pm #194401I think he is not getting the borderline calls because his control hasn’t been to good. It seems like if a guy is missing a lot then he doesn’t get the close ones.
August 7, 2022 at 2:07 pm #194402Talk about getting squeezed……I counted 4 obvious strikes that were called balls in the top of the 2nd….Waino still manages to strike out Donaldson…..4-1.
August 7, 2022 at 2:07 pm #194403Don’t quote me on this….. but while in the dugout…. Yadi and Wanno need to create a call sign for the Ump.
Next time he misses calls like that….. Wanno should fire the pitch right at the umpires head…. and Yadi not even go for the pitch.
August 7, 2022 at 2:13 pm #1944041982 willieParticipantNo but I’m not surprised you think that’s a good idea
August 7, 2022 at 2:17 pm #194405Bottom of 2.
DeJong walks.
Yadi on 2-2 receives some pretty nasty chin music. . . amazing he wasn’t hit. The chin music was so nasty it kind of sounded like that song back in the 80’s that Bruce Willis recorded. Yadi walks and that will send the tying run up to the plate here with nary an out…..sweet.
Edman strikes out and Tommy needs to break out of his funk as he’s too darn good for a hitting slump of this duration.
Carlson blisters a drive that’ll split the right and center fielders and go all of the way to the wall!…..in trots Paulie with the Cardinals not taking any chances with Yadi’s lack of speed as he’ll stop at 3rd. Double for Dylan and it’s now 4-2 Yanks.
Donovan walks and the bases are now crammed with Cards
Goldy smokes a liner to center but right at Hicks….oh oh Yadi is tredging homeward bound…safe….Hicks did not cleanly get the ball out of his glove and that enabled Yadi to score…..whew…..4-3.
Arenado throttles a long one to left!…..back back and bombs away baby!! Long gone and the Birds have now seized a 6-4 lead.
O’Neill grounds out to Donaldson at 3rd…..on a very close play.
Cards 6
Yanks 4August 7, 2022 at 2:17 pm #194406Neither Waino nor Montas are very sharp today. Hopefully the Cards can get back in the game here.
August 7, 2022 at 2:20 pm #194407Nice hitting by Carlson…now Donovan walks and the bases are juiced for Goldy.
August 7, 2022 at 2:21 pm #1944081982 willieParticipantWaino can still get it together, he does this a lot
Montas was injured for a bit so he may not go as deepAugust 7, 2022 at 2:22 pm #194409Arenado bomb!!! 6-4 Cards!!
August 7, 2022 at 2:24 pm #1944101982 willieParticipantWell after two games with good pitching, may be in for a marathon.
August 7, 2022 at 2:27 pm #194411And it’s only been two innings!
August 7, 2022 at 2:31 pm #194412Never mind that was a big inning there for the Cards!
August 7, 2022 at 2:32 pm #194413Waino with 55 pitches as we commence inning #3.
Torres flys out to Carlson in straightaway center field. Benintendi flies out to O’Neill in left and I’m getting the sneaking suspicion that Waino has found his groove in this ballgame….better late than never, Waino. Hicks with another one of his patented full swing soft and slow as molasses infield hits down the 3rd baseline. Trevino strikes out swinging, Waino’s 5th K.Cards 6
