Don’t we need to drop a couple guys for the post season roster? Not sure how it works this year.

Yes, 26 max. Of course, all starting pitchers won’t be needed for the Wild Card. New rosters for NLDS if they advance.

I’d love to hear Dodger fans gripe about elimination after one game. Plus, that happening to that franchise might be the clout needed to get rid of the wacky format that allows a 106-win team to be eliminated in one game.

This is correct. If the Dodgers and/or Yankees are eliminated by the one game playoff you can bet your bottom dollar that the format will be changed next year.

A multi game WC format would reduce the significance of winning your division.

Just curious here. If the Cardinals win against the Dodgers and face the Giants in the NLDS then that means they will have at least one more home game at Busch.

Will Mike Shannon be broadcasting that game, as well as other possible playoff games, on the radio?

Yes, he would do the games at Busch.

Laz Diaz is a first rate ump. Be nice seeing him eyeing matters from 2nd base come Wednesday evening.

I’m no psychic, but I see a little 5 card stud in the cards for those 4 amigos this evening. All four with big cigars….. stogies that would raise RatsBuddy’s eyebrows. They best keep a keen eye on Plummer when he’s dealing though. It’ll be show time for these youngsters soon…..maybe next post season for “Pez”.

Might be an interested AL wild card game tonight. Yankees at Fenway. I believe me and Whitey Herdog will be tuned in tonight. Along with a couple of cigars. And then afterwards a bite to eat, another cigar, and an episode of Cannon.

Speaking of “Cannon”, as in “Toy Cannon”, Jimmy Wynn hit some of the most majestic bombs I’ve ever seen, in the Astrodome back in the day. Wonder what he’s up to these days?

The Toy Cannon passed away a couple of years or so ago, Pugs.

There was a guy ahead of his time. Used the upper cut swing that is so popular these days.

Awhile back I read a Willie Mays book. Mays said people were always coming up to him about a throw he made. He said he made some good ones, but Jimmy Wynn made the greatest throw he has ever seen in a game against the Giants.

Just goggled him and discovered his unfortunate demise, thanks BicycleMike. Jimmy did indeed hit some of the most prodigious homers in the game’s history. They say playing in the overly spacious Dome cost “The Toy Cannon” a bunch of career dingers. And the amazing thing to me was that Jimmy Wynn checked in at only 5’9 and 160 lbs.

Speaking of Jimmy Wynn, I him him when Dad took me to my first in-person MLB game in 1970. I knew he was a good player then, but don’t remember details of what he did that night. I do remember Hank Aaron hit a HR that game. Jim Bouton got one of his last career victories. Cepeda and Cedeno also played that game. For two sub-.500 teams that year, I guess it wasn’t a bad first game to see.

Looks like the Red Sox are going to prevail in the AL Wild Card game. They have a 6-1 lead in the top of the 8th.

It’s going to take more than a Bucky Bleeping Dent moment for the Yanks to pull this one out.

Well yanks lost, their stud didn’t get it done though their hitters didn’t do much either. Hopefully waino pitches a lot better for us.

Once I get home from work I will have about an hour or so to figure out how to watch the game. I no longer watch TV at all except for some of the Cardinals games. I have the Bally sports Channel number, 1748, written at the top of the ATT Uverse cable TV fan fold directory. There is a cross out where I had it as Fox Sports Midwest. But alas, all for naught as this game is elsewhere. If my wife has the TV on Hulu or some other such thing it will not get cable at all and I will have to wait for her to get home or get my grandson over here to figure it out. As I wait, the pile of remotes on the table will sit there, mocking me.

O’Neill will definitely get a bump but being a first time arbitration guy the bump will be limited. I would say between $3M-$5M. Of course there will be a new CBA so the pay system might be totally different in 2022.

O’Neills poorer results before this year will stunt his earnings a bit, but he should get a nice pay raise for sure.

Alright.. i figured as much. 34 homeruns while even missing a few weeks of play i figure earned him a pay increase.
