Do you keep Webb out there, or maybe double switch with Sanchez debut?

    Bottom of 6

O’Neill – Shoots a high octane grounder thru the vacant hole at 2nd and out into right for a leadoff base hit.

Williams – Grounds it right to Gregorius positioned near the 2nd base bag and he’ll tap the bag with his foot and then execute a rather acrobatic throw to Hoskins at 1st to just nip the speedy Williams to complete the twin killing.

Knizner – Grounds it wide of 1st where Hoskins gloves it and he’ll accurately underhand feed his streaking pitcher to 1st base to retire the side.

The Phillies get the leadoff double off our batting practice lefty. Unfortunately, one of the other lefties is also a batting practice pitcher and the third of them couldn’t throw the ball into the Mississippi from the bank tonight.

McLaughlin and Edmonds with an awkward exchange there.

Bohm leads off the Philly 7th with a double. Can Webb Houdini his way out of it 2 innings in a row? Boy we need it.

Man, I would not have Webb facing the righty here.

I’d surrender my left pinkie for a twin killing right here.

Apparently Andrew Miller is the next man up after Webb, so it’s clear that Shildt is punting on the game. Seems silly given that tomorrow is a 95%+ chance of a loss against Nola, but it is what it is.

Dodged a bullet getting Hoskins to pop up. Has a lefty now. Rolling the dice with Webb here.

Where do we rank in terms of walks? Seems like we walk 7 guys a game, know that’s not true but man

Cards now trail 5-3. Keep waiting to see the Cards pummel this supposedly “bad” Phillies bullpen. They’ve scored three runs in one game against the Phillies and been shut out by the pen in every other game they’ve played.

These last two top half frames could have been much much worse.

Still anyone’s game, but after that HBP to Harper it seems like we are not meant to win this one. Kind of a “going through the motions” feel to it.

Let’s see how Carp works his latest strikeout. He did his other thing – hit into the shift.

That was a pretty ugly inning with harper and the other guy getting hit. You know it wasn’t on purpose but you can’t blame the Phillies players and manager. I think the umps should have ejected him after the second just because the 3 batter rule tied shildts hands. At least it would have calmed the Phillies a bit.

Carp finds a way to get robbed again on a diving play by the Phillies second baseman.

Edman slaps another single to left center.

Carlson with that big upper cut again – flies to left.

I agree 1982willie. Cabrera is throwing 97 mph with control issues. Definitely a player safety issue. IMO, another reason to dump the three batter minimum rule.

Goldy goes fishing on 2 and 0. Then gets under the 2-2 pitch to end the inning with a fly out to right.

    Bottom of 7

Connor Brogdon fondling the rosin bag for Philadelphia.

Carpenter – Hard hit grounder that Maton, sprawls out to glove and quickly jumps to his feet and throws Carp out at 1st…nice play…if you’re a Phillies fan.

Edman – Lines a one hop base hit to left that McCutchen grabs and quickly tosses in.

Carlson – On 2-2 Dylan lofts a lazy fly to left that will pose no difficulties whatsoever for McCutchen…and he has it for the second out here in the Redbird 7th. And after throwing over to 1st 3 consecutive times to give the next Phillies reliever more time to heat up, Mr. Brogdon will call it a night and head off the field of play.

Enter Jose Alvarado and his miniscule 1.35 era. Jose kind of looks like Cardinal great, Lee Smith.

Goldy – Flys out to Joyce in medium right field just a couple of feet inside the chalk.
