A quick 0-2 on Mr Carlson. Carlson looked awful in that bat. Probably thinking too much, as the announcers were actually on point for a change.

Don’t give them too much credit. All they had to do was parrot what Shildt said…

Bader looked awful in that at bat. Hard to believe he would not be pinch hit for next at bat unless the Cards have a lead.

Isn’t Morejon a guy that one of our regulars (jj?) was anxious to try to trade Carlos for last winter? He looks pretty good in his limited time tonight.

Tatis with a mistake. Edman is safe.

Wong is banged. Of course ESPN won’t show it since we got 12 replays of Tatis. Looks like he’s ok after all.

A righty is in and Goldy is up.

not me, but agree he looked very good. Can we make their little oops hurt? C’mon Goldy

Goldy frozen. That was gonna be a tough pitch to hit but he just watched it. And the regularly scheduled Cardinals offense is in the building!!

Nah, Tatis didn’t make a mistake. He just threw high because he felt sorry for the Cardinals. (They didn’t really say that on the telecast, but if they had, it wouldn’t have surprised me.)

We can’t even hit a bunch of marginal relievers, pretty horrible. I’m not sure the Cardinals deserve to win this game.

Well, willie, it is only partway over. Let’s see what happens after halftime.

Flaherty not getting much wiggle room on his pitches. Hard to get ahead of hitters with an inconsistent zone.

Tatis with a 1 out double.

Hosmer opposite field double. 1-0 Padres.

Well Brian I would agree. I just expect a little bit more by the cardinal bats than I’ve seen at this point. Flaherty has pitched well considering how the other starters in this series for both teams has pitched but eventually he will tire, which he is doing now

Wish we could take junky singles hitters and turn them into power bats like just about every other freaking team in the league can do.

First-pitch RBI double by Hosmer. Jack is already into the 90’s in pitch count at 4 2/3 innings.

Jack ensuring that the 5th will be his last inning. 94 pitches for him. Gotta get some runs now.

Jack has not been at his best. Yet, he has held this line up to one run. It is time the offense does something and take the pressure off the pitching staff.

I’d love to get him a couple runs. He pitched well enough to win if we could have gotten the bats going.

Ok, a rookie in again. Gotta rattle him. Dylan starts with a ground out.

Every inning the Padres bullpen holds the Cardinals offense scoreless, the better San Diego’s chances become… (even before they scored)
