stlcard25ParticipantJack now over 40 pitches. Not good. Not good at all.
October 2, 2020 at 6:56 pm #143416
stlcard25ParticipantJack gets the call. Ks Grisham. Lots of pitches though. We need more. The goal has to be 5 innings now.
October 2, 2020 at 6:56 pm #143417Batting helmet hit Yadi’s hand on a hard strike two. He shook it off.
October 2, 2020 at 6:57 pm #14341844 pitches in 2 innings, only 24 of which were strikes. But he has kept them off the board. Needs to find the zone though, or the odds are not good on keeping these Pads from rolling up a few runs.

stlcard25ParticipantFowler swings at one 8″ outside on 3-2 to take the leadoff man off the bases.
October 2, 2020 at 7:03 pm #143420
stlcard25ParticipantBader gets on with the HBP. Would like to see some pressure with the base running here.
October 2, 2020 at 7:05 pm #143421
stlcard25ParticipantPadres luck again. A terrible throw that Tatis manages to keep a whisker on the bag for.
October 2, 2020 at 7:06 pm #143422Incredible play by Tatis to keep his toe on the bag for the high throw from Hill for the force out at 2nd.
October 2, 2020 at 7:11 pm #143423
stlcard25ParticipantEdman with the seeing eye single and we’ve got runners at the corners for Goldy.
October 2, 2020 at 7:13 pm #143424
stlcard25ParticipantPads not appearing to want to mess with Goldy much here. Lots away. It’s 3-1. Green light? Nope. Walk, and Carlson is in. He’s had a ton of chances with the bases loaded so far in his young career.
October 2, 2020 at 7:16 pm #143425
stlcard25ParticipantA quick 0-2 on Mr Carlson. Carlson looked awful in that bat. Probably thinking too much, as the announcers were actually on point for a change.
October 2, 2020 at 7:18 pm #143426He looked awful on strike 3 but I think the other two sliders were great pitches for anyone to face.
October 2, 2020 at 7:18 pm #143427
jj-cf-stlParticipantboth clubs come up empty on a bases load situation. Jack gets a chance to catch his breath and re-group
October 2, 2020 at 7:18 pm #143428Terrible at bat by DC. Would someone please remind him this is a do-or-die playoff game?!
October 2, 2020 at 7:24 pm #143429Agree … Cards need to get the offense rolling to take the pressure off the pitchers. Hopefully, Flaherty can get through six innings.
October 2, 2020 at 7:24 pm #143430Awesome job by Flaherty making the 2-3-4 Padres look bad this inning.
October 2, 2020 at 7:26 pm #143432Yeah – we need to get some of that aggressiveness we had in game one. If the ball is there, pull the trigger. Especially with the bases full.
October 2, 2020 at 7:28 pm #143433Yes, Flaherty holding tough so far, but need base runners to put pressure on the SDPs. We can win this game against their bullpen shuffle.
October 2, 2020 at 7:31 pm #143434This is going more like a typical 2020 Cardinal game – scratch and claw to get a run here and there; missed opportunities. I think we may have a breakout inning later in the game though, where we “get the line moving” as John Rooney says.
October 2, 2020 at 7:31 pm #143435Weak contact into the shift. Sounds familiar.
October 2, 2020 at 7:39 pm #143436
stlcard25ParticipantJack back in trouble in the ever troubling 4th inning. Cards starters have been knocked out in the 4th the first two games.
October 2, 2020 at 7:42 pm #143437
stlcard25ParticipantI swear it’s like San Diego hitters have an idea of every pitch coming in this series and get the barrel on it. Hard outs like crazy.
October 2, 2020 at 7:43 pm #143438Runner at first shoukd have tagged on that flyout.
October 2, 2020 at 7:44 pm #143439No one is going for Jacks’s low slider.
October 2, 2020 at 7:45 pm #143440
stlcard25ParticipantJack strands the runners. A lot of bend but don’t break. He’s on pace to give us 5 innings. The Padres are pushing every right button with their pen. IMO it’s going to be time for Shildt to pinch hit and give them better chances here soon. Carp and Bader come to mind.
