Well, can Reyes set the last three down without much drama? It would be good to just have an easy 9th.
8 of the 9 hitters in the #stlcards lineup have at least one hit or walk. Six have multiples. The 8 also have scored and/or have driven in at least one run. Bader has 5 Ks in 5 PAs.

We can erase one of Bader’s K’s with that nice little game ending catch. Truth be told, Bader can catch a ball hit like that in his sleep with ease.

So Shildt does push all the right buttons. The Miller button felt like it had a little of the neighbor’s kid’s snot on it, but it worked out.
Huge win. And a massive insurance RBI single by Fowler in the top of the ninth. Very good team win and great bullpen work. Now we need the old warrior Wainwright to close it out and happy flight to Texas.

A horn refers to a player striking out six times in a game; the term was coined by pitcher Mike Flanagan after teammate Sam Horn of the Baltimore Orioles accomplished the feat in an extra-inning game in 1991. Alternate names for this accomplishment are titanium sombrero or double platinum sombrero.

Yeah, that was great to see. His at bats were almost all top quality. He never got anxious and swung at something he shouldn’t have except that last at bat, and he used the opposite field. Reminded me of the way Matt Carpenter used to hit.
I am looking forward to the Brewers/Dodgers game here in about an hour. I’ll have my tuna salad sandwich, chili, and a piece of banana cream pie from the amish restaurant around first pitch. Then a cigar or two. Plus my old sidekick Whitey Herdog will be on the couch with me. After she gets her late night snack of Cesar’s beef, of course!
