I’m hoping they take Landon Knack (He’s from my school and the best college SR in the draft.) tomorrow. I think they’ll need to save somewhere to sign Walker.
June 10, 2020 at 8:32 pm #130089Hope he is not a tough sign.
June 10, 2020 at 8:37 pm #130095can’t wait for tomorrow
six more picksJune 10, 2020 at 8:40 pm #130099June 10, 2020 at 8:42 pm #130100Do you think it will take more than 3.1 mil to sign Walker?

stlcard25ParticipantI didn’t watch much of the draft tonight but did for a few picks before the Cards. It seemed like most were taking right to the end of the time before they would submit the pick. The Cards still had about 2 minutes on the clock when the pick was in. Maybe it’s not evidence of anything, but it seems like Walker was their guy and they probably feel they have a great shot to sign him. At least that’s my take.
June 10, 2020 at 8:45 pm #130103A’s ended up with Soderstrom
June 10, 2020 at 8:48 pm #130104Walker is an impressive prospect.
June 10, 2020 at 8:53 pm #130105There is a ton of RHP left. Probably a big run on that in the Competitive Balance round.
June 10, 2020 at 8:54 pm #130107I 100% love the upside, but still shocked they didn’t go with a college pitcher! I’m with STC25 on the fact that the pick was in so early, it might be an indication they have something worked out.
He’s the type of high upside bat they need to be going for, boom or bust with this one and Fletcher last year. Maybe the mindset is that they are hedging their bet on Fletcher and hoping one of the two turns into an all-star…..
June 10, 2020 at 9:00 pm #130110I like us taking a potential big offensive player as the first pick. Still have plenty of opportunities to load up on pitching talent.
June 10, 2020 at 9:01 pm #130111first round:
11 HS
18 College
11 Pitchers

June 10, 2020 at 9:24 pm #130119Alika Williams, Tampa with 37 they got from Cards
June 10, 2020 at 9:25 pm #130120Still have Wilcox/McMahon/Van Eyk/Beeter/Ginn Left on the board after Day 1. Some talent to grab in the 2nd round.
June 10, 2020 at 9:25 pm #130121Tomorrow the Cardinals have 3 picks in the next 33 at 54, 63 &70.
June 10, 2020 at 9:29 pm #130122Nobody available at 37 I would take over Libertorre.
June 10, 2020 at 9:31 pm #130123No…Libertorre is elite.
June 10, 2020 at 9:31 pm #130124Also, any thoughts as to where he would slot into the Top Prospects? I’m thinking 8-10 range.
June 10, 2020 at 9:32 pm #130125100% on that Grenadier
1000%June 10, 2020 at 9:40 pm #130129Gamecard I just felt like this was a save on signing bonus kind of pick. But Randy Flores track record gives him benefit of the doubt.
June 10, 2020 at 9:44 pm #130130I don’t think so…it might cost the Cardinals more than the 3.1M to keep him from going to Duke. He was MLB’s 33 prospect but he was viewed as a tough sign because of academics.
June 10, 2020 at 10:06 pm #130134I don’t think it was a saving money kind of pick, quite the opposite actually. I could see them using one of those next 3 picks on a college senior type that they can sign for cheap and perhaps allocate some of it to Walker to get him signed and the rest to take another high upside pick at 54?
It was mentioned during the broadcast that a few of the pitchers taken could “slot into the BP right away”. With the potential for a crazy season, I wonder if they might take a lefty who is considered a BP only guy with two great pitches and save a little money that way?
Tomorrow evening should be fun to say the least!
