this. i always liked the guy. i lived in Denver when he was there, and I’d go to Coors just to watch him play. i was so excited and hopeful when we got him.
and now he’s gone. given away, and nothing in return. i know we had to cut ties, but still, it’s a disappointment.

this. how Marmol left Helsley out there for so long is beyond me. i haven’t been a fan of Marmol’s managing, and i think this was a terrible failure
i’m focusing on the opt-out clauses. frankly, i see almost zero chance of Nolan leaving in a year. the only way i can see it being a consideration is if he has a great year and the Cardinals do poorly. but even then, i don’t see him going to free agency next winter while the Great Unknown, a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, is being negotiated. better to stand pat for another year and take your guaranteed $35M, no matter how bad this year is. i think things have to go horribly wrong with this club for him to leave in two years, but i just don’t see it. but still, if it does, and he leaves, well, in return for those five players, we got two years of Arenado, one of ’em at no cost. i can live with that. so i think it’s two years, or the whole enchilada. ofcourse, i could be wrong, and i usually am…
