jj-cf-stlParticipantGladly CF is not on the off-season wish list. Just pencil that rabbit in regularly.
jj-cf-stlParticipantBader with a one hop strike to yadi for the final out
jj-cf-stlParticipantBozo’s contact skills ties it up
jj-cf-stlParticipantI like what Scildt did with RF, DH and 1B/3B.
Bozo stays in the OF, Carps bat still in the lineup and Jedd doesn’t sit to let Wisdom start.
jj-cf-stlParticipantMayers has had 3 days rest.
Norris 4 days and webb 5 days.
jj-cf-stlParticipantHow effectively Luke pitches going forward probably determines how many starts and IP they allow him this season.
As Ny said, there are other SP’s that will be coming off the DL and in the pen.
Here’s an opportunity against a lower level lineup for Luke to show he deserves his rotation spot.
jj-cf-stlParticipantBR shows Luke throwing 138 IP last season, across all levels.
He’s at ~126 IP going into todays start. I’m watching how stl handles his IP and how effective he can be if they let him throw 160 to 170 IP.
jj-cf-stlParticipantT,
When we evaluate Weavers 2018, and his role going forward, I like to start with games started.By this evening Luke will lead the Cardinals in GS this season. We’re asking a lot of this young man.
Many of the others mentioned above have been unavaible for multiple starts, and for extended periods.
For me, I need to remember that the comparisons of the possible rotation going forward, starts with how others would have produced under Lukes workload.
jj-cf-stlParticipantRF-Garcia for Munoz
Flaherty for Gomber
You know the rest
jj-cf-stlParticipantBozo has a quality inside-out swing, with power. Best oppo swing on the team and I’m not forgetting yadis.
jj-cf-stlParticipantI prefer gombers curve, it tunnels better with his fastball. Late hard wiffle ball break.
You could identify Ankiels curve 10′ from release. Awesome pitch but it didnt make his other pitches better like Gombers does.
Batters identify Gombers curve very late, too late to adjust timing. With Ankiel batters could take a full cut, contact was the problem.
I think Gombers curve deserves an ankiel comparison / discussion.
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe streak continues.
4-0 good guys
jj-cf-stlParticipantWoo-Hoo!
jj-cf-stlParticipantWhose curve do you like better as a rookie, Ankiel or Gomber?
jj-cf-stlParticipantVery nice inside-out swing by Bozo

jj-cf-stlParticipantHave always felt some of Fowlers appeal to the FO was he will swing lefty 75% of the time.
Recent acquisitions suggest it’s still a consideration for them when targeting acquisitions.
jj-cf-stlParticipantBozo at DH, Munoz in RF. You know the rest

jj-cf-stlParticipantGS,
I enjoy your replies and don’t intend to rain on your parade, but, i gotta be honest too.August 10, 2018 at 4:17 pm in reply to: Trade Ideas/Acquisition Ideas/Non-Cards Rumors – 2017-2018 #64890
jj-cf-stlParticipantIglesias is 1yr younger than Jedd and their career war/650’s are nearly identical.
Jose 2.46, Jedd 2.44We do have Jedd at 2/15.5mil or 3/27.5mil, (7.75mil aav or 9.17mil aav) which i consider a market value contract.
I’d want more impact than Iglesias, or just stick w/Jedd.

jj-cf-stlParticipantAbout 1B…. I never want to see jose martinez on the infield again, in a stl uniform.
Carp, our best bat, is a DH. We have to hide him at 1B exclusively, and then hope and pray he can catch pickoff throws. So imo, the org MUST acquire an impact player at SS or 3B. DeJong plays both and yields to the acquired player, that forces Carp to stay at 1B.
I like Jedd, but at a corner he’s average at best. I like us up the middle, and the OF youth looks very promising.
Do it soon, before Yadi’s window closes.
August 9, 2018 at 6:11 pm in reply to: What is wrong with Dexter Fowler and what should be done? #64784
jj-cf-stlParticipantFowlers 18′ could be over. A best case might be he’s available a couple weeks at seasons end, because i read walking cast for a month. This is his total 18′ value, right now, for me.
The FO ate 31% of Leakes contract last August, and his 17′ in stl was not Fowler type horrible. 4.21 era / 4.24 fip
I doubt Mo can get anyone to take on more than bench player $ this offseason. Even 3mil per may be stretch.
I’ll bet my kingdom they give him the opp to turn it around again next season. They’re not going to eat 80 to 90% on him this offseason, or release ~50mil.
Realistically, who would be buying? He’s stunk, will be coming off injury and plays in a very lazy manner. You gotta hit very well to play lacadazical like he does.
jj-cf-stlParticipantNicknames at our house:
Bader-The Rabbit
Carpenter-Carp
Cecil-Stinko
Flaherty-Chris (carpenter) Flaherty
Fowler-That lazy “Bum”
Gomber-Goober
Gyorko-Stumpy
C. Martinez-Flair
J. Martinez-“Bozo”
Molina-Captain Clutch
Ozuna-Twitch
Poncedeleon-Ponce
Wacha= Wacha-Wacha
jj-cf-stlParticipantBreaking balls sure give Bader fits
jj-cf-stlParticipantRecent short outings have been for PH appearances. Flaherty could have pitched the 8th but Schildt had his heart set on Shreve getting an appearance.
Gant tonight. It’s as if there are too many who need to throw out of the pen and starters are getting quick hooks.
I’d rather have another bench player.
jj-cf-stlParticipantWould Ponce be better off pitching regularly in the minors and recently demoted Brebbia being the forgotten man in the pen?
