The Pittsburgh Pirates have won 15 out of the last 21 games (15-6)
If Konnor Griffin, Ryan O’Hearn, and Oneil Cruz didn’t get hurt basically all at the same time, they would probably be one of the best teams in baseball and the run differential kind of proves that.
Maybe Ben…

I saw a reference to an article somewhere which celebrated the fact that attendance only dropped slightly compared to last year. Can’t remember where and I didn’t go looking for it.

Per a source familiar with the wording of MLB's most recent CBA proposal, the proposal includes the following mechanisms for minimum payroll and salary floor. Words in, formatting of, and emphasis within the screenshot are mine, and used due to character limits: pic.twitter.com/QzEq4rPFBR

Sal Stewart is still the favourite for NL Rookie of the Year, but his poor September (-0.2 fWAR) makes me feel like he may not win. Carson Benge’s offence is on par with much better defence and Nolan McLean has a 3.18 ERA across 172.2 IP. They also clear Stewart by over 1.0 fWAR https://t.co/UD31NeJ2Tw

How are our birds going to perform for their last six? A .500 team or a slow slide into the muck?
Another 2-4 week (same as the prior two weeks) would leave them at 78-84, same as last year, albeit with a cheaper and younger roster.
How many of them are the reigning Cy Young Award winner, who likely won’t get a single vote in 2026?
Local media sharpening their knives…
In more than two decades of writing about the Cincinnati Reds, I have never once called for someone to be fired. These are real people with families and I've never wanted to do that.
That changes tomorrow. Enough is enough.

Gettin’ ugly in Pittsburgh.
Paul Skenes had a 1.98 ERA after 9 starts this season, which is comparable with his 2025 (1.97) and 2024 (1.96) season marks.
It was only after mid-May when things turned worse (4.73 ERA since).
Using the WBC as an excuse doesn't check out and, I think, makes him look foolish. pic.twitter.com/8dH5R7coAZ

Heading into the International League Championship, the Memphis Redbirds scored 20 runs in their last three games. Over the final regular season series, C Jimmy Crooks reached base in 14 of 18 PAs for a .737 OBP and 1.451 OPS. Tabarius White reports. https://t.co/VmPgyqRxLe pic.twitter.com/5fjB7eXoZs

Paul Skenes pitching in the WBC may indeed have contributed to his dramatic decline in 2026…
… but it may also be his ~15 pound weight gain.
… or mechanical differences.
… or teams being far more knowledgeable.
… or most likely, a combination of all four factors. pic.twitter.com/YfOiVP3gxL

Despite the vote of confidence in the leadership, two Reds icons, Larkin and Votto, want change.
September 21, 2026 at 9:21 pm in reply to: St. Louis 2026 Game #156 thread – Sunday, Sept. 20 vs. Washington Nationals #319347I have a novel idea. Let’s “get a grip” on Bernal’s larger, more meaningful body of work in 2026, with Memphis.
Comparative Triple-A numbers to the very small StL data cited above:
Nine errors in 70 games for .988 fielding percentage (not that this is a great measure).
Caught stealing: 27.4% (23 of 84).

BA named their top MiLB Player of the Year for all 30 organizations. Not surprisingly, Rainiel is their Cardinals choice.
