BW, if you knew they want to run you out of town, why would you show up?
(I need to figure out how to do the emoticons)
December 13, 2018 at 9:01 am #77337bccran
ParticipantIt’s his fault that fans are on his back. Hie lackadaisical,
under performing play compounded by stunts like this.
Mo called him out on it last season, then both he and
BDW pulled back.December 13, 2018 at 9:07 am #77339
stlcard25ParticipantIf Dexter comes out and OPSes .850 on a Cards team that leads the division, a lot of the animosity will be gone by the All Star break. But if he’s still struggling and/or the team follows, it will continue to get more acrimonious. I suspect 2019 would be the end of the road for Mr Fowler.
December 13, 2018 at 9:11 am #77341Why don’t the Cardinal fans (the so-called “greatest fans in baseball”) leave the nastiness out of all the Fowler comments and see how he reacts to being able to just play baseball again.
I put this post on here over 36 hours ago without 1 comment:
What about replacing Fowler with a switch hitter with these stats:
.271/.378/.467/.845 with an average of 16 HRs, 8 triples and a 21.5% K rate?
What I never came back on here to reveal is that is Fowler’s averages from 2016-2017 combined. In other words, if he reverts back to his average from that time, most fans would be content with that production. He is only 1 year removed from that.
Cardinal fans can be a fickle bunch.
December 13, 2018 at 9:40 am #77349Fowler also changed the date of his wife’s C-section last summer because it was originally schedule for a weekend we were playing the Cubs and he wanted to pal around with Rizzo

ParticipantThe 2019 Winter Warm-Up event will be held January 19-21 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch. Newly signed first baseman, Paul Goldshmidt, as well as returning members of the St. Louis Cardinals, including Yadier Molina, Carlos Martínez, Matt Carpenter, Adam Wainwright, Miles Mikolas, Harrison Bader, Paul DeJong, Kolten Wong, Jack Flaherty, Jordan Hicks, Michael Wacha, Jedd Gyorko, José Martínez, Tyler O’Neill, John Brebbia, John Gant, Austin Gomber, Dominic Leone, Mike Mayers, Yairo Muñoz, Chasen Shreve, and Tyler Webb are scheduled to appear at the event. Top prospects Alex Reyes, Dakota Hudson, Adolis García, Andrew Knizner, Daniel Ponce de Leon, Patrick Wisdom, Ryan Helsley, Max Schrock, Lane Thomas, and Justin Williams are also scheduled to attend along with Manager Mike Shildt and First Base Coach Stubby Clapp. In total, more than 50 players, coaches and alumni will be on hand for the event. Autograph schedule is subject to change.
December 13, 2018 at 11:04 am #77383FWIW if you think Fowler is getting raked over the coals on this site then go to Cardstalk .He is getting torched because of his not appearing with the Cards and having a signing in Cubbieland another day.
December 13, 2018 at 5:25 pm #77422It would just go to prove my point.
BTW, is Wisdom still going to be at WWU?
December 13, 2018 at 5:34 pm #77423bccran
ParticipantWhy would Wisdom be a part of WWU when he’s no longer in the Cardinals organization?
December 13, 2018 at 5:48 pm #77425That’s what I was getting at. 14Nyquist posted earlier today that he would be at WWU.

ParticipantDoes anyone know the exact reason DF gave for not attending this charity event for the 3rd year in a row? Did you hear of a reason, BW?
December 13, 2018 at 6:32 pm #77427All you have to do is go to the website to see who is signing. Wisdom was on the list, but after the trade, they took him off. Same with Weaver. Just as one would expect.
There is not a list of who is not coming and why. As one would expect.
In past years, I heard explanations like a sick kid, family birthdays, overseas vacations, etc. The real reasons are only known by the player, and personally, I consider it their business.

December 13, 2018 at 6:37 pm #77428You never know. Maybe the player decided to show up at the charity event as a final thank you to the organization and fans. Stranger things have happened. From what I have heard about Wisdom, I would not be too surprised if he did something like that.
December 13, 2018 at 7:45 pm #77430This is very different. FOX Sports Midwest prepared a slideshow plea for fans to give Fowler a chance.
December 13, 2018 at 8:10 pm #77431Well, they are partially owned by the Cardinals…
December 13, 2018 at 8:25 pm #77433bccran
Participant.180/.278/.298/.576. Nonchalant,
listless play. Defensive attitude blaming others rather than himself for his poor play. Undermines authority. That pretty much says it all.
December 13, 2018 at 9:05 pm #77435Looks like the fo isn’t going to do anything and already trying to do the spin for next season that nobody is buying now and hasn’t bought in the last several years…Mo and Girsch need to be shown the door sooner rather than later…
December 13, 2018 at 9:22 pm #77436I feel the same way about Cecil that some people feel about Fowler. Nothing personal, but to me, Cecil as a pitcher has no redeeming qualities. I suggested once or twice that whoever scouted him should be fired. I wish Cecil would show some class and give the rest of the money he has coming back to the organization rather than shamelessly taking up space in the bullpen while he’s waiting for the next big paycheck to arrive. I am not quite ready to eat the $50M that is owed Fowler, but I think eating Cecil’s $15M is an absolute necessity.
December 13, 2018 at 9:24 pm #77437That tweet appears to have been deleted.
December 13, 2018 at 9:26 pm #77438bccran
ParticipantI agree, Mudville. He’s bad news.
December 13, 2018 at 9:45 pm #77440Though it was deleted, nothing on the internet can ever disappear.

December 13, 2018 at 9:48 pm #77442Nice to see the Cardinals are finally producing propaganda content for FSMidwest. I guess that 30% ownership stake has a purpose after all.
December 13, 2018 at 10:00 pm #77447
stlcard25ParticipantWow, that is weird. And I can’t say I totally disagree, but it’s strange to see something so blatant from FSM.
Hopefully Dexter plays well, but if he doesn’t he needs to show a little humility and not blame anyone but himself. He’s had every chance to prove it…now go and do it.
December 13, 2018 at 10:03 pm #77449bccran
ParticipantIn Fowler’s best season, he had 18 home runs and 64 RBI. Even if he returned to that in 2019, are those the kind of corner OF numbers we want?
December 13, 2018 at 10:15 pm #77450Lots of assumptions being made about who ordered what in terms of this slideshow. Perhaps we should wait until the facts come out before deciding who to blame? No, never mind.
