Cards might just hold on to DF until 2021…. his contract year. We’re almost half way there anyway.

We can wait three more seasons for Dexy to start improving. What a scam.

Nice one Mozeliak, Fowler should outlast you with the organization!

    MO has got to GO.

Is it public info that Fowler has mental health issues?

As to the comment about society no longer just “firing” people for mental health issues, that’s not really true. Also, most people who are having mental health issues at work wouldn’t get paid the same whether fired or they are kept on, as would be the case for Fowler. Let’s not pretend it is the same as putting someone with a family out on their rear ends.

Let’s hope Fowler can get on a tear this year, hit like he did in the two years prior to last year, and then we can pawn him off onto someone else a year from now.

I think this year is Fowler’s last chance. The front office just can’t let him stand in the way of others who deserve to be there. For now, I agree, lets hope he performs up to his ability.

To me this is exciting. It means Dex is trying to right his ship…… I hope. If he performs up to his ability, and with that contagious smile of his, he could become a fan favorite. Come on Dex, shoot for becoming a fan favorite!

atripleshy, here is the article in which Fowler attributed his problems last year not to a physical ailment he was hiding, but to his “mental health”. Goold also reported that “Mozeliak has checked with Fowler about his recovery, about his health, about his mental health.”

Fake news alert: “Shildt Snubs Fowler Dinner”. Cardinals fans shocked! Film at 10.

Is it really true that Fowler will be in Chicago signing autographs for Cub fans on Saturday, January 12th – at the same time Cardinals Winter Warm Up is going on? If so, wow.

FWIW, they are not at the same time. I do wonder how Fowler views Cardinals fans. When he and his wife first arrived, they had a big social media presence which started in Chicago. Looked like a nice family, photos of the kids, etc. But when Fowler began to have problems, some Cardinals “fans” made it personal. I am sure it was fun to see internet tough guys hiding behind fake screen names telling you that “you suck”, “Go back to Chicago” and a lot worse. That was bad enough, but they went after his wife, too. Soon, the couple withdrew from social media interaction. So there could be some lingering issues there.

Is it true then, that’s he’s flying to Chicago in January to sign autographs for Cub fans, but is a no show at Cardinals Winter Warm Up? For the 3rd year in a row?
How can he possibly explain this to BDW, Mo, his teammates who will be at WWU, and Cardinal fans?

Brian it should not MATTER when it is, he is not on the Cubs team he should not be signing autographs for Cub fans period, unless he continue to want to have the Cardinal fans run him out of town!

Not up to me to answer for Fowler. Some will be upset – mostly those who are unhappy with Fowler anyway. Others see it like Bernie, who only cares if he shows up in February and plays well.

If he really going to go to Chi and sign for Cub fans and not show up for STL fans his rear needs gone he is a cancer to this team and fan base period!

Then Bernie doen’t understand the Cardinals fan base very well.
The fans will be livid as this news gets around.

Like I said, only the fans who are looking for more reasons to dislike him will be up in arms.

And it’s not just the fans who are already upset with Fowler, BW.
It’s going to be most of Cardinal Nation.

No any Cardinal fan with a brain cell will be mad with this clown going to a RIVAL and signing stuff but he won’t do it for Cardinal fans….

And Mo, his protector, should also be a little upset because of the PR implications.

To be accurate, it is a memorabilia store. To be honest, if he had a paid signing in StL, would many come? That was the point made by Pugs. More Cubs fans would value his autograph, I imagine, since his time there was more positive.

His time there was more positive to him, so he shows up there but not here? But what about the team that is way over paying him now and the 3 million plus fans who come through the turnstiles here. And the packed crowds at Winter Warm Up, paying hard earned money for autographs that support charity. As has been reported on here before, this player is all about himself.
There is no way to excuse away his behavior in this matter. It exposes him for who he is. Some have said he’s the most egocentric player they have ever been around.
That is starting to be evident.

While I don’t think Fowler is doing himself any favors with the Cardinals’ fans, I can’t blame him for not wanting to come to a Cardinals fan gathering if he is getting the type of treatment that is being indicated. Heck, how many of the posters here want to run him out of town.

31 – When you have a problem, you don’t run away and hide. You face the problem head on and do what you can to help solve it. And you don’t do something like he’s doing now with Cubs fans to make the problem worse with our fans.

But, forsch, they need him to show up before they can run him out of town! 😉

Just my opinion, but this sounds like a millennial issue compounded by Fowler’s sensitivity. We owe this guy fifty million bucks. I think we need to get off his back, at least until we find out if he’s going to start playing the kind of baseball that he’s capable of playing.
