Last I heard Winn was second in runs saved by a shortstop to the terrific Royals player Bobby Witt Jr.
Good to see Gray pitching well tonight, after a couple of rough outings.
May 20, 2024 at 8:14 pm #253006Burly is looking good as well. I would have been open to trading him in the off season, but he has really come along. Hope it continues.
May 20, 2024 at 8:14 pm #2530075 runs even with the bronze busts 0-6.
May 20, 2024 at 8:15 pm #253008The Orioles do need a Closer. If we are selling in July, I would shop Helsey to them along with some other pieces to see what it would take to get Coby Mayo. I doubt they will trade him though unless it is for Mason Miller.
May 20, 2024 at 8:15 pm #253009Haha!…Cardinals are giving away that “Jordan Skywalker” bobblehead for “Star Wars Night.” I guess they’ll call him back to StL. before June 6th. Anyone remember when they shipped Wong off to Memphis and quickly had to recall him to StL. before “Kolten Wong Hawaiian Jersey Night”?
May 20, 2024 at 8:22 pm #253011Henderson has an MVP in his future. He has a much better glove than expected and he can smash
May 20, 2024 at 8:23 pm #253012With 1 out in the Redbird 5th, Suarez walks Burly & Herrera in succession. Then Gorman whiffs on a high hard one that should have resulted in the bases being juiced and only 1 out…..but instead it’s 2 down and 2 on for Winn. Winn is thrown out at 1st on an unbelievable play by Gunner Henderson at short……I thought it impossible for Winn to be thrown out on a play like that. Still 5-0 Birds……the red ones, not the orange and black ones.
May 20, 2024 at 8:23 pm #253013Wow, great play by their shortstop. With Winn running on that I said “no way”, as I thought he would beat it out. That kid is a latter day Mark Belanger.
May 20, 2024 at 8:24 pm #253014Maybe they could have the bobbleheads with a Memphis jersey and cap.
Gorman strikes out w RISP again in the 5th. His specialty.
May 20, 2024 at 8:26 pm #253015Wow Siani with a rare blunder as he has to call that. Thankfully an error
May 20, 2024 at 8:26 pm #253016Jeez – I thought Donovan should have taken charge on that.
May 20, 2024 at 8:27 pm #253018Wow, and now Winn boots a grounder! Sheesh…
May 20, 2024 at 8:29 pm #253019Oh goodie…..they ruled it an error and then Winn boots another one….an easy grounder…..and now we’re just begging for problems…..only saving grace is the fellow we have pitching tonight. If anyone can overcome 2 wrongs, it’s Sonny Boy.
May 20, 2024 at 8:30 pm #253020And now the Earl Weaver special makes it a ball game.
May 20, 2024 at 8:30 pm #253021Gunnar, Rutschman with Holliday, Mayo, and Kjerstead in the future. That Baltimore team is going to be really good for years to come. Cowser and Westberg look like really good contributes too.
May 20, 2024 at 8:30 pm #253022New games happen in a hurry.
May 20, 2024 at 8:31 pm #253023Oh no! Gunner just shot one over the center field wall and just like that our 5 run advantage has been dissolved to just a 2 run lead. Fourth consecutive game Henderson has homered.

jj-cf-stlParticipantAbout damn time Winn had a bad inning. Up by two. Hit him another.
May 20, 2024 at 8:32 pm #253025Last I heard Winn was second in runs saved by a shortstop to the terrific Royals player Bobby Witt Jr.
Witt has 9 OAA, but only a 75% success rate.
Winn has -3 OAA, and only a 74% success rate.Vidal Brujan has 1 OAA, but an 82% success rate.
Anthonly Volpe has 5 OAA, and an 81% success rate.I don’t use DRS or OAA, because the scorers let their bias in to the scoring. I prefer to use success rates, which are based on Statcast data and probabilities.
May 20, 2024 at 8:33 pm #253026Gunner was the RoY last year and now is an obvious front runner for MVP…..yes, a long way to go. I wonder if a player has ever won RoY and then came right back to win MVP the next?
May 20, 2024 at 8:36 pm #253027Yeah Pugs he is the front runner in the AL. I can see a couple more for him in the future even if he doesn’t win it this year.
May 20, 2024 at 8:38 pm #253028I would not use Romero tonight – he has been roughed up lately and seems a bit worn out. Gray really having to work this inning.
May 20, 2024 at 8:40 pm #253029Yes indeed, Albert. What an exciting talent to have on your side. Baltimore has really only had one hard hit here in this frame if memory serves me correct, but they’ve put 3 on the scoreboard and looking for more with only one out and 2 on.
May 20, 2024 at 8:40 pm #253030I thought Jackie Robinson had accomplished that feat Pugs, but I was wrong. I also checked Hank Aaron, but I was way off with him. Pujols came closer that either of the two aforementioned greats.
May 20, 2024 at 8:42 pm #253031Oh oh BicycleMike is not going to like this…..Romero getting the call with 2 out. Gray only had 89 pitches under his belt, why not have him finish the inning here…..it’s not like he’s getting rocked.
Thanks TD…..figured someone must have done it.
