But Kitty is my new favorite Cardinal, LACardFan. Yes he’s old and not under control after this year…..but let’s ink him to a new 2 year deal. He won’t disappoint.
May 10, 2024 at 9:01 pm #251670Herrera is young though – he can improve on that. Plus the pitchers need to help.
The strength of the bullpen is why they will be gone – we can get something for them. Kitty is 34 and we can sell high – he has no real future here. As good as he has been, that was another blunder on Mo’s part.
Mo can’t do anything right lately. Bad trades, bad manager hire.
May 10, 2024 at 9:01 pm #251671I would’ve left Libby where he was and I hope he stays in the pen. I’d rather see Robberse get the nod.
Team isn’t really competing. They likely get swept or at best find a win. Someone needs to go Sunday night. Hitting coach and someone else. Team is not responding and it effects the pitching when they do absolutely nothing on offense. Trickle down effect.
May 10, 2024 at 9:06 pm #251672I think Ward is gone after this weekend barring a sudden offensive explosion over the weekend. And by Memorial Day I think management will suck it up and can Ollie.
They have to do something to create a spark – something drastic. They remind me of some of the slow pitch softball teams I played on, where you were out there for fun but there were always those teams that had a bunch of boppers and you would get 10-runned. Everyone had their head down and it was just no fun. Our club looks that way.
May 10, 2024 at 9:07 pm #251673I’m thinking along those same lines, greyghost. They almost have to do something to demonstrate to fans that they care about what’s been taking place for what has now been a stretch of over 200 games. I fully expect some changes before the next homestand.
May 10, 2024 at 9:07 pm #251674Off the major league roster I would keep Winn.
That’s it. Everybody else is either too old to last through the rebuild or is a AAAA player – or both.
That’s also impossible to pull off and field a team so:
We will have Mikolas, Matz, and bunch of other guys that are nothing more than average to below average players.
Can Walker play? Don’t know
Can Gorman play? Don’t know
Can Nootbar play? Don’t know.
Can Donovan play? Don’t know.
Can Scott play? Does not seem so at AAA.
Fermin, Siani, and Pages are not major league players.
Carpenter and Crawford are not major league players.

ParticipantPretty much agreed with gscottars thoughts the other night. The veterans seem to have disappeared. Some one and two year guys aren’t looking like it. They are not stepping up. Don’t really see anyone showing improvement. Like everybodys in their rookie year. What do you do? Play what you got or get some new guys. Its up to the players there to put it together or not. If they don’t they will end up somewhere else. Its up to them.
May 10, 2024 at 9:11 pm #251676Leahy is gassed at 40+ pitches. Outscored 16-2 and counting so far in this series. The sky keeps falling.
May 10, 2024 at 9:15 pm #251677Pugs,
Why pay Kittridge?
What are we going to do with him here?
May 10, 2024 at 9:18 pm #251678Man this Roycroft kid is something. Reminds me a bit of a guy I never saw, if that is possible, but had his cards and read about about as a kid, Dick “The Monster” Radatz.
May 10, 2024 at 9:18 pm #251679Sheesh….really embarrassing now.

ParticipantGet in from playing with the grandson and i saw the score and was thinking i was in groundhog day. One run again tonight. Pitching is starting to unravel. I didnt want to be right about this season but its looking very bleak now. I think we need to man up and win the final two to split or it may be all over this weekend. Just one win puts us 8 out. This isnt even that good a brewer team. Just shows how far we have fallen.

ParticipantDang somebody slipped a super ball in on Siani- 2 run blooper!
May 10, 2024 at 9:23 pm #251682Ump gave us a break on a pitch outside. Even he is tired of watching this nonsense.
May 10, 2024 at 9:24 pm #251683I am going to cash it in, folks. Each day brings a new low point.

ParticipantGlad that innings over! Painful!
May 10, 2024 at 9:31 pm #251687Wooster2
ParticipantThats gonna leave a mark!
May 10, 2024 at 9:34 pm #251689The Cardinals will be 8 games back in the NLC when this game concludes, but it could be worse. On May 10, 2003 the Marlins were 9 games off the pace in the NLE…
May 10, 2024 at 9:40 pm #251690Wooster2
ParticipantGorman dinger! Signs of life!
May 10, 2024 at 9:42 pm #251691Wooster2
ParticipantSwinging for the fences now…
May 10, 2024 at 9:45 pm #251692This team has quit. After last season I suspected that they might be fragile and so now this abysmal start has them all saying, ‘here we go again’.
They are pros and they will continue to work of course but they know it’s over.
May 10, 2024 at 10:28 pm #251695Pugs,
Why pay Kittredge?
What are we going to do with him here?
Kitty has won me over, ZTR. I can’t think of a team that would not welcome him to their pen with open arms. Tommy Edman has nothing to do with this 2024 debacle, so I’d keep him as well. An of course The Kid (Winn) is a keeper too. Many tough decisions to be made, but hopefully a new front office will be at the helm first, before a trading frenzy takes place.
May 10, 2024 at 11:03 pm #251698Pugs, if we keep him until the deadline, that is roughly 80% of the season. Then trade him for 2-3 prospects. Then resign him in the offseason (if he wants to come back)
May 11, 2024 at 2:32 am #251700Pugs, if you keep the only guys anybody would want, how does that work? Absolutely the last thing Mo needs to be thinking about is how to retain or reacquire a 34 year old guy.
May 11, 2024 at 6:40 am #251703I get the suspicion that Kitty is one that carries much weight with the younger players as far as not being goof-offs, Bling. I imagine vets such as Goldy and Arenado are simply very nice people, whom naturally opt to not ruffle feathers for the sake of correcting incorrect behavior. Kitty most likely has a couple solid years left in him, so I like LACardFan’s idea of trading Kitty for prospect(s) and then re-signing him this coming winter. But wait until the waning minutes of the trading deadline to deal Kitty….we need a guy like him around as long as possible.
