jj-cf-stlParticipantYep, that’s a crooked number.
May 10, 2024 at 8:37 pm #251644They can change managers but I think we all know that it not the real problem.
This is a bad team with bad management, a bad front office, and a bad organization.
I don’t know how this gets fixed but I do know that it can’t even start until Mo is gone.
May 10, 2024 at 8:37 pm #251645If this team was a horse we’d shoot it
Funny ZTR! I’d even go so far as winging him a couple of times first before finally putting him out of his misery.
May 10, 2024 at 8:37 pm #251646We’re watching a team that’s disintegrated to the sort of ballclub that seems to have no chance. I said earlier that it’s my guess that significant changes will take place before the Cardinals return home to face the Red Sox, Orioles and Cubs.
May 10, 2024 at 8:38 pm #251647“Liberatore would have been my choice, despite the poor showing so far tonight. His profile seems a much better fit for a SP than a RP“
Yep, I would have installed him in the rotation full time rather than jerk him around from starting to relieving. They did this to him last year as well. Just strikes me as poor management – a common trait with this bunch.
May 10, 2024 at 8:39 pm #251648Still don’t understand why Siani does not try a bunt when leading off an inning against a lefty.
May 10, 2024 at 8:40 pm #251649We should just concede this series and move on. Not that the Angels will be any better…
May 10, 2024 at 8:41 pm #251650Milwaukee really shouldn’t get too excited about this Gasser kid yet. If you take into account the team he’s facing, it’s really no big deal what he’s accomplished this evening.
May 10, 2024 at 8:42 pm #251651There is literally nothing to work with here.
It will take several years to tear this down and rebuild it.
Every day DeWitt waits to fire Mo just adds another day to the timetable to try to rebuild the Cardinals.
May 10, 2024 at 8:43 pm #251652After this series we have three clubs coming in that are better than us. Man, we could really be in deep doo-doo by Memorial Day.
May 10, 2024 at 8:43 pm #251653You would think a proper hitting coach would emphasizing over and over to Noot to swing at strike 1 if it is hittable. He has some of the best statcast numbers, but the book is out on him to opposing teams. He is too passive so throw a meatball strike 1 and get him behind the count. I say this as someone who thinks Noot is very talented and wish he could make an adjustment to his game.
May 10, 2024 at 8:45 pm #251654Turn out the lights the party is over.
Gutless management and gutless players. Nothing but a bunch over overpaid babies.
May 10, 2024 at 8:45 pm #251656Kind of like what I see from Leahy so far.
May 10, 2024 at 8:47 pm #251657After this series we have three clubs coming in that are better than us. Man, we could really be in deep doo-doo by Memorial Day.
Said the other day the next 19-20 games a loaded with teams just waiting to kick the dirt on the Cardinals grave. There is no could be, they are done and it’s not even Memorial Day.
May 10, 2024 at 8:47 pm #251658As the trading deadline approaches, I’d say the only Cardinal players off the table are Winn, Kitty, JoJo and Gray. Say if a team wanted to take the other 22 off our hands, a couple of mid-level prospects would be adequate compensation.
May 10, 2024 at 8:51 pm #251659You all realize that there is zero chance this team is good next year.
There is nothing here to build around. If they fire Mo and get a rebuild started they can improve but it will be impossible for them to go from where they are now to good.
I have never seen a Cardinals team as bad and soulless as I have in 2023 and 2024.
May 10, 2024 at 8:52 pm #251660Take Kitty off that list Pugs, and probably JoJo as well. Winn, probably Herrera, Gray, maybe Donovan. I would still give Gorman time as well – that’s about it. Anyone else could be had, and we would welcome someone to take Goldy, sad as that is to say.
May 10, 2024 at 8:54 pm #251661I think you’re totally correct, ZTR. The rebuilding process has to commence asap.
May 10, 2024 at 8:55 pm #251662No back to back sub .500 seasons since 1958-59. If this edition does make a drastic turn around, that is how bad things are.
May 10, 2024 at 8:57 pm #251663Kittredge is on the last year of his contract. He will definitely be traded.
Honestly, at this point, the Cardinals should be attempting to move Gray, Contreras & Arenado, because it’s going to be years before the Cardinals are competitive again.
May 10, 2024 at 8:58 pm #251664Difficult to make Kitty & JoJo available, BicycleMike. The pen is this team’s only strength right now. Herrera I might have kept if not for ZTR’s revelation tonight about his 0-20 streak in nabbing base runners attempting thefts. You just can’t have a starting catcher like that.
May 10, 2024 at 8:59 pm #251665The Carlson, Goldschmidt, Gorman trio has reached 0 for 54 in May!!
May 10, 2024 at 8:59 pm #251666It is kind of crazy to have 5 players in your lineup hitting below .215 nearly 40 games in.
I have to think that if this 7 game road trip ends in a disaster record, which is likely, Marmol or Mo or both will be packing their bags on the off day b/w the Boston series. It certainly won’t salvage this debacle of a season, but at some point this team is going to have to be rebuilt.

ParticipantWell Burly just rbis our first run. At least we aren’t completely dead tonight.Zipwhopper has been avoided. Poping out with Burly in scoring position doesn’t help at all. Somebody slap ’em!
May 10, 2024 at 9:00 pm #251668I don’t understand how they haven’t fired the hitting coach already.
Normally, that is just a scapegoating. But look at this lineup.
