I am fine with Fermin getting the start, but surprised Gorman is sitting vs the lefty.

I can only hope he is packing his bag for Memphis.

I can see putting Goldschmidt back in the lineup, but in the three slot? Well maybe just saying that will get him going on a 3 for 4 night with a double, homer and four RBI as the Cardinals suddenly look good in a 7-3 win.

My idea is when things are this bad, the lineup strategy should be to clump whoever still has a pulse at the top. Don’t worry about anything else. OliMo has them spread out.

With a tip of the cap to Burly and maybe Arenado, I think Siani may be our most dependable stick lately. Shows you the state of affairs this ball club is dealing with. It’s unfortunate we have the DH in the NL now, because our pitchers most likely would have out-hit our DH’s. Wonder what our DH stats are…..though maybe now is not the best time to look as I’m trying to stay positive with our game only about an hour away.

Ollie tends to hit guys based on what they should do, or have done in the past rather than what they are presently producing. He does eventually tweak things and moves struggling players down, but it takes awhile.

But to give him some credit, which I rarely do, at this point guys with the potential or who have done so in the past need to produce, and so he places them there and if they don’t hit then there is not much else to do.

Usually a team will have one or two guys that sort of carry the load on offense at a given time. We had Contreras doing that, with Arenado chipping in some. Donovan started off strong. But mostly it has been a collective slump. Old guys look old, young guys look over-matched.

Analytics doesn’t help in a situation like this. So then what?

    Pugs?

Jasper led Southridge 14-2 in the last of the 4th. I went ahead and left so I could catch the Cards and Brewers. They play again in the tournament that starts in two weeks.

UPDATE: Just saw the final score. 18-2 Jasper.

You sure you’re not looking at last October’s football score, Rat?

Hope this Brewer starting pitcher is gassed by the 3rd inning.

Looks like runs may be at a premium in this one. Through one inning complete and the 1st base bag remains unscathed.

Friday night game threads are usually deader than a doornail. Anyone else out there besides JJ?

That Brewer right fielder did NOT need to dive to the turf on that catch. But you know, judging by the applause, it fooled many Brewer fans in attendance.

Even when we hit a ball hard it becomes a double play. Burly jumped on that pitch.
