Well, we get the strikeout on a wild pitch. 2nd and 3rd with one out. Top of the order and a base hit scores 2.

And just like that, it’s a game again. Because of Arenado’s error.

Lindor helps by swinging at a pitch in the dirt for strike three. The dangerous Alonso then jacks one to make it 6-4. Yikes!!

We wouldn’t blow a 6 run lead would we??

That brought life and then some back into the Mets. Ugh. This is now a ballgame again.

Gray was at around 30 pitches through 3, 50 pitches through 4.

Now at 74 through 5.

Gave them an extra out and they cashed in.

I was concerned earlier that Gray just didn’t look quite as sharp today. Missing badly with quite a few pitches. He’s also had quite a few great pitches. But it’s been quite a mix of both.

If Siani just hit .230, or got on base at a .320 clip he would be a valuable player. But he can’t even hit as good as Wainwright or Bob Gibson. Gibby was a pretty good hitter – probably would have been real good had he worked at it.

Yeah, Sonny looks a little off as I mentioned before. I am not sure if he is a bit less than 100% or if it is just one of those days.

Zack Thompson with 3 scoreless innings of Pallante in Memphis thus far.

Need Sonny to cruise through an easy sixth here, then take our chances after that. Would be nice to tack on two as I get the sense the Mets will get to six in this one with our second tier bullpen having to work.

Libby warming. I think he will be okay and get the job done, hopefully for two innings if not finish this one off.

Dang, another walk. Was ahead 1-2 and lost him. Not good.

And Gray’s 3rd walk puts us in trouble.

Big double play there. Gray wasn’t as sharp today and was missing his spots, but he battled very well and made it a competitive start. I’m really impressed with his pitches per inning even in a game without great command. He should be able to go 6 consistently with the way he has been pitching

I’m sure that will be it for Gray. We could go with the same 3 as yesterday, but that would make them all likely unavailable for at least the next couple games. I think we need to try to just use 1 of them if possible. So that means Liberatore, Gallegos, or Fernandez over the next 2 and then Helsley in the 9th if needed.
