Let’s hope Sonny is once again dominant and we can take this series.

This one seems to set up nicely for the Cardinals. Let’s get Gray 4-5 runs to work with.

I’ll be tuned in for this one on Fox. Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch with a couple of 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigars for this one.

And does anyone think Arenado is ever going to hit another homerun? Our two power guys, Arenado and Goldy, have a total of three homeruns so far this year. I wonder what’s wrong???

And din-din today will be a bologna sandwich with cheese and 2-3 ears of corn along with a few bar-b-q potato chips. And an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew. And then a big bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream. And then later tonight it will be an episode of Mannix once the late games out west are over.

I always love Sonny Gray games. I love the way he attacks hitters and and delivers 1st pitch strikes. Getting stike 1 is something I feel many of our pitchers need to do to improve more.

Maybe Donovan is starting to heat up. If he can get some things going his way in batted balls our offense will look much better with him on base and Contreras knocking him in.

I’ve enjoyed watching him work too, Albert. It’s entertaining to see a guy who obviously formulates a plan designed to record outs and then does a nice job of executing his plan. He’s a pitcher.

Gray and Matz need to talk all day everyday about game plans. Matz has the stuff, but doesn’t get stike 1 nearly enough and doesn’t have the bulldog mentality that Gray does.

Winn has an impressive inside-out swing on demand. RBI.

That was a good swing by Winn.

Question – is it legal to use the DH for our CF rather than pitcher? I was thinking about it last night when Mikolas was on the mound. I’m pretty certain that Mikolas is a better hitter than Siani. Mikolas was always a pretty good hitter – for a pitcher.

Jnevel, if Waino we’re still around, I would rather have him hitting than Siani. Siani has been showing signs of improvement at least and man can he play defense.

Siani takes a hit away nearly every game. He was considered our best minor league defender for good reason. He has also always walked quite a bit and he’s an excellent bunter. But he’s a bad hitter and has been that consistently.

Sinai’s obp is better than Gorman. He’s .006 behind Herrera.
No power that those two have but not an auto-out either.

The Cards were smart to grab Siani when he got put on waivers by the Reds. You can always use a guy with an elite skill. I was excited when they took him last year. But is he a good option as the every day starter? Probably not.

Mikolas has a career .127/.145/.187/.331 slash line in 153 PAs.
Siani has a career .133/.224/.167/.391 in 70 PAs.

For reference, Victor Scott II has 65 career PAs.

Here is the rule on the DH:
However, a starting pitcher (but not relievers) may choose to also start as the designated hitter, so that the pitcher bats for himself. The DH may only be used for the pitcher (and not any other position player), as stated in Rule 5.11.[2] Use of the DH is optional, but must be determined before the start of the game.
