Today’s lineup should be:
1- Carpenter -3B
2- Wong- 2B – Is it so wrong to go with a hot bat while its smoking? Even if its temporary.
3- Goldschmidt- 1B – I think we got him to fill the middle of the order. Solo homers = 1 run.
4- JoMartinez- RF – Our best hitter of the last two seasons on the bench? Sounds about right…. not.
5- O’Neill- LF – Big defensive upgrade and could improve at the plate with playing time.
6- DeJong- SS
7- Molina- C – Should be 8th but he’d never allow it.
8- Bader- CF – Should be ahead of Molina. Once Molina is on base everything on the base paths slows down.
9- Mikolas- PThat leaves us with a poor bench. C’est la vie.
Thanks. Just found TCN a couple of days ago and, so far, I like what I see. What was your screen name on the MLB boards? Other than the strikeouts I still like what I see overall with this team. A bit too early to get down on any specific player. Looking to see Mr Machado on our opening day. If tries that tripping trick on Goldschmidt he may wind up with 43,000 waiting to take him out……LOL
We have a slight programming change with PBP in Pittsburgh today. We were slated to get kicked off in the Cardinal Nation booth at 6:50pm(EST) 5:50pm(CST) 12:50am(CAT) for all of our good friends in Gaborone, Botswana. However, we’ll now be in the booth at 6:03pm(CST). We do apologize profusely for any inconvenience this may have caused. Carp – Hits it routinely in the air to left where Shuck will drift a few yards over towards center to glove it for the out.
Goldy – Caught gazing at a low hard one for out #2.
DeJong – Grounds it deep in the hole at short where Gonzalez gloves it and executes a very nice throw to Bell’s waiting mitt at 1st to retire the Birds here in order in the 1st.

Bucs Coming up.This does not appear to be the Mikolas we all saw in 2018! But…..it’s still very early…..let’s keep our fingers and toes crossed.
Dexter drops a routine ball that your Aunt Mimi could handle with ease and now we have runners at the corners with just one out…..ouch Dexter….ouch!!
And now a walk results in the bases brimming with Pirates with just the 1 out…..Kang licking his chops at the dish.

JMart – Grounds it out to short where Gonzalez gloves it then awkwardly off one leg fires the ball to Bell at 1st who nicely scoops the ball out of the dirt for the out.
Yadi – Laces a base hit to center for the Birds first baserunner of the game.
Dexter – Rolls it softly out to Frazier at 2nd who’ll flip it to Gonzalez covering 2nd for one, but a throw to 1st will not even be attempted…..2 outs.
Wong – Fowler swipes 2nd uncontested on a 2-2 count. Kolten strikes out swinging for the downs to retire the side.

Pirates 0GACard in the house….sweet!…..anyone else hanging around? I thought it would have been a nice touch for our newest Cardinal Nationer, Minuteman3, to be with us here this evening.
Nice Mikolas fielding play prevents a 3rd Pittsburgh tally as we move along to the 3rd in a 2-0 Bucs ballgame.
Unfortunately, thanks to the blackout, I cannot watch the game tonight. So I will be dependent on the stellar PBP abilities of the fine folks at TCN to fill my mind’s eye with the action.

Bader – Whacks it deep to right!…..Cabrera back peddles to the track and executes an unathletic little jump but does come down with the ball for the out….Cabrera gets only a 1 on style for that catch though.
Mikolas – Taps a slow as molasses roller to Kang at 3rd, but the Pirate 3rd baseman will have to put that one in his hip pocket as the Redbird hurler will have himself an infield hit.
Carp – Whiffs hacking and the agitated Cardinal 3rd baseman heads back to his dugout.
Goldy – Flys out to Cabrera in right to terminate the inning with no St. Louis damage inflicted.
