Stat of the day:
In 32 starts last year Mikolas only gave up 16 home runs. In 2 starts this year he’s already at 4.

DeJong – Bounces it out to Gonzalez at short who will cleanly field it and wing it on over to Bell at 1st for the out.
JMart – Taps it back to Taillon who will take it halfway to 1st on his own and then decide to engage his 1st baseman in the action by flipping it his way and that’s 2 down here in the Cardinal 4th.

Yep…..what a disappointing start once again for Dexter. You just CANNOT allow these pitiful performances to go on much longer. I’m very very unhappy with Dexter’s start.

Pirates 3BHC, I really appreciate the offer to help, but it’s only tonight for me and I’m running around the house doing stuff anyway. I’ll just follow along here and on Gameday and hope for a rally!

Robinson (PH for Mikolas) – Pops it up to Kang at 3rd who catches it but tumbles to the turf in the process as 2 fellow teammates started to butt in on the play.

Goldy – Bounces it out to Frazier at 2nd who will make the short toss over to Bell at 1st and that is now 11….count them…..11 consecutive Cardinals that Taillon has dispatched.

DeJong – Smokes a long one to left! …Shuck back, but that’s all he can do is say “awe shucks”!! as that baby is in the seats for a homer!! 3-1 Bucs ballgame now.

Yadi – Hits it in the air to right-center field where Marty will drift over from his position in center to take command of the play…..2 down.

Bucs 3Leone with another effective outing. He is off to a good start this season. Looking more like the guy I was expecting to see when he came over last season.
A glance at the batting average column of the box score is not pretty. Good job by Mayers and Leone to hold the line
And once again we have no winner in our Cardinal Nation Trivia contest. The winning answer tonight was “Nyquist”. But that ups the anti for our next PBP game to a very nice $60 Red Lobster gift certificate…..good luck all!

Bader goes yard and ties it up…! Would prefer to see that offense in the 1st inning instead of the 8th, but not complaining! Goldy chance to go ahead w/Carp on 2nd…and…flies out. Up to DeJong…

Bader – Jerks one high and deep to left-center!!….Marte and Shuck take a few strides in pursuit….but it’s gone for a game tying tater!!!! Harrison Bader destroyed that Kela pitch and we’re now looking at a 3-3 ballgame! Both starting pitchers will not figure into the W-L equation here, much to Taillon’s dismay and to Mikolas’ delight.
O’Neill – Grounds out to 3rd.
Carp- Rips it deep to right!….and off the wall she goes and Carp will stroll into 2nd with a double! And hopefully the grounds crew will check that right field wall for damage as that ball had to have taken a chunk out of it. They can even send Matt the bill as I think he’ll gladly pay for it.

Bucs 3well I was out tonight but got back in time to see bader tie it up. seems like mikolas was ok not great but kept it close. most of the lineup still sputtering but we are still in it. but now they are bringing in miller. that hasn’t worked out well so far this year. i don’t care about what side the batter hits on, i would have preferred brebbia. hes been great, miller has been horrible. but we will see.
Once again I would like to thank all who participated in tonight’s Cardinal Nation Trivia contest. Nobody could quite come up with the correct answer, but that just may inspire ole’ Pugs to make the next contest a very easy one. Stay tuned.
