Love seeing those hits!
August 26, 2019 at 8:24 pm #103878Dejong hit that a mile
August 26, 2019 at 8:24 pm #103879
stlcard25ParticipantDejong absolutely crushed that ball. 11-2 Cards.
August 26, 2019 at 8:25 pm #1038802 run dinger! YOWZA!
August 26, 2019 at 8:26 pm #103881Wooster you have have your starters go at least 5 and they really should get you 6. No they didn’t score much on him but that short of an outing kills the bullpen.
August 26, 2019 at 8:36 pm #103882Good 6th for Gant
August 26, 2019 at 8:41 pm #103883Yeah colhusker thats the traditional concept but right now we only have 2 guys that can go 5 to 6 innings and stay in the game. I like what we’re doing. Its no secret we have a great pen. We’re doing what we need to do to win games!Go Cardinals!
August 26, 2019 at 8:43 pm #103884Ideally, you would like to see you starter go six. Tonight Wainwright threw 90 pitches in 3.2 innings. Way too many pitches. Schildt had to take him out as he appeared to be losing it.
I agree that short outings by starters wear down a bull pen over time.
August 26, 2019 at 8:44 pm #103885
stlcard25ParticipantI do think we need to get longer starts but it will sort itself out a bit more in September. We would have Ponce as another long guy to eat some innings, so I could live with Waino or Wacha going 4 innings if the next 3 can be taken by Helsley or Ponce.
August 26, 2019 at 8:49 pm #103887Helsley and Galeogos have been lookin’ good lately. Gant looked good tonight and so does Leon right now! Thrilled with our hitting too. Still not sure whos gonna close? By committee?
August 26, 2019 at 8:52 pm #103888In the final month, will we see three starters and essentially two heavy bullpen usage games each time through the #stlcards rotation? This possibility was a factor in my September call-up projections, posted today for TCN members. ($) https://t.co/w7Ju14JmGp pic.twitter.com/yZ2Shuz7Tw

stlcard25ParticipantFwiw, I agreed with your choices, Brian…including the dark horse choice. It would give the Cards plenty of legitimate long relievers.
August 26, 2019 at 9:00 pm #103890
stlcard25ParticipantDejong gives one a ride and almost makes it a 12 run game. Instead, he settles for the sac fly and it’s 12-2 Cards.
August 26, 2019 at 9:04 pm #103891DeJong 5 Ft short of dinger, sac fly ins Edman . 2 more!
August 26, 2019 at 9:05 pm #1038921 more!
August 26, 2019 at 9:07 pm #103893
stlcard25ParticipantKind of a random pitching change there for the Brewers. I’ll take it though. Hopefully Bader hits anyway and adds a few more to the ledger.
August 26, 2019 at 9:09 pm #103894Great game here at Miller Park!!
DeJongs bomb seemed like it was still rising when it hit the sign
Carp looks as lost in person as on TV
Ozuna looks like he’s clicking
August 26, 2019 at 9:09 pm #103895Counsell’s expression on his face as he walked out to remove his pitcher after walking three straight looked like a school kid that was told he was given a detention. He has to stay two more innings – unless Angel throws him out.
August 26, 2019 at 9:11 pm #103896Really liking the change in Bader. Great to see a guy go down and come back turning it around! Still waitin to see Carp do something tonight. Doesn’t seem to be doin’well against leftys tonight
August 26, 2019 at 9:16 pm #103898Counsell was edgy from the start. My guess it has been brewing for awhile with their pitching (no pun intended). It’s a frustrating thing and the manager can’t do much.
August 26, 2019 at 9:22 pm #103899CFICT, you need to find Pugs at the park and add a little cheer to his evening. Evidently his wife doesn’t get as excited as he does over the Cards. You guys picked a good one to attend. Hope you’re going to the next two.
August 26, 2019 at 9:26 pm #103900I sure hope Helsley gets a look at starting next season. Why wouldn’t he? He has all the tools to stay in the rotation.
August 26, 2019 at 9:33 pm #103901Front Row Amy has stayed until the end.
August 26, 2019 at 9:37 pm #103902Another walk in the (Miller) park. Can’t say enough good things about the way the club is playing right now, so I will say one bad thing. Not real fond of the parade of bullpen pitchers in 10-run game. I mean, can’t anyone pitch more than an inning, and be left in to work out of “trouble”?
August 26, 2019 at 9:39 pm #103903Too bad Cabrera wasn’t available sooner, it would have been nice to have a 3rd lefty on the pen versus the Crew.
