BicycleMike did they say 45 walks in the last 7 games? That is insane.

Angel Hernandez is drunk. Is there another explanation? Edmonds and Danny Mac are having some laughs at Angel’s expense.

Fun one to watch. Lots of runs. Whatever they ate for lunch they need to do it again tomorrow! Go Cardinals!

Good win tonight. Just keep putting distance between us and the cubs.

I think that is what they said CH. Okay, that really got weird. You go to your closer with 2 out, one on, bottom of the 9th with a thread bare 10 run lead.

They used to say that stealing a base with a big lead was bush. Is that also true with using your front line pitchers with a 10 run lead? If I am Milwaukee I certainly don’t like it.

Good to get the first win. Now let’s get two more and put Milwaukee in a huge rut.

I get your point bikemike on the parade, but at least no individual burned too much fuel. Plus, I do like that Shildt gave CMart one out to get him some work, making him a contributor to the victory and feeling successful. I think the psychological vibes are important with CMart.

I said it earlier, but that DeJong homer was an absolute bomb, the way the bat sounded, at first I thought he broke it, then looked up and there she goes. He must be a bud man because he whacked that Miller sign!! The estimate at the park was 421, that thing would have traveled well beyond that before finding the ground.

Then, the next one he hit to the wall, I thought was going to be even longer and Cain was able to grab it next to the wall. I can’t find a clip of it, if the he wouldn’t have been there, would it have been a HR?

Carp, weak ground out, K swinging, K swinging, K swinging, walk…… if you’re a pitcher, how do you walk someone who has struck out swinging 3 consecutive times and looked awful in doing so, furthermore, off of a pitcher who was limping along?

Ah, this is how I like to start my day! Arise, turn on computer, read about a Cardinal romp. Sorry Waino couldn’t have had a better day but love the bat work. It’s a rainy day here so I think I’ll just stay in and watch the game over lunch. Double rah Cards.

Anybody remember the old joke about the beer that made Milt Famey walk us?

I can always be found in section 122, CardsFanInChiTown. Would have loved to have met up with you for a pregame cold one. I’ll be game threading it with all of you guys tonight and will be back at Miller for Wednesday afternoons Redbird romp.

Yeah Euro, as usual the wifey wasn’t much fun at the game. She never drinks and knows nothing about the game….. how’s that for having 2 quick strikes on you. As is my Miller Park custom, I snuck in my old buddy (Wild Turkey) last night, which greatly enhanced the fun. There’s a reason they call last night’s kind of games “laughers”, as I don’t think I’ve laughed that much in years. The wifey vowed to never go to another game with me again…..but she’ll be there at my side come Wednesday afternoon…..with a smile on her face.

Beef strog with corn on the cob is a dandy of a pre game meal, Wooster! No dessert though?? And RatsBuddy has been very quiet of late. I miss hearing of his pre game din-dins. Hopefully Brian and his crack staff can get to the bottom of what is causing Rat’s inability to properly post.

    CARPS BACK………………………….oh wait.

Love to watch merry-go-round games, something we didn’t see in the first 4 months of this season.

Waino vs Gio – Like watching two guys fighting without gloves and both losing but their corner workers deciding the match.

Ozuna – Sign him man. Gscottar – his bad off season was because he resisted the surgery but I think Mo laid down the law and he went under the knife. This guy wants to stay a Cardinal and I agree with him.

Pitching – and I thought the Rockies had bad pitching. The Brewers next 11 games will be their end – 2 with Cards, 7 with Cubs, 2 with Astros.

Something not connected with this game: Pitchers won/loss records are BS because of the way they are determined. A guy can pitch 4.2 innings and not get a win but can get a loss while a guy can make one pitch and get a win. Is Mikolas really 7-13? Not much support from the offense in a lot of early and mid-season games, i.e, Flaherty.

Well, hopefully they at least win a few against the Cubs as that would really help us out! The Cards have the Brewers, Reds, Giants and Pirates.

I was premature in thinking Carp having turned a corner. He looked terrible at the plate last night. I love Adam Wainwright but he has to give his team more than 3.2 IP after they give you an 8-run lead. 90 pitches and 49 for strikes isn’t going to cut it in any ballpark and neither will the 6 hits and 2 walks he issued. His problems weren’t caused by Angel Hernandez. He was all over the place.

Pugs, those same two quick strikes apply to mine as well, luckily I got to go with a buddy that’s a big Cards fan. On a positive note, the wife can be the DD so you can sip on that Wild Wild Turkey!

On the post game Brewers coverage after the game(1250 AM), one of the guys was extremely unhappy with Shildt. Pretty close to an exact quote: “He’s a Shildt person and a Shildty manager, so there, I said it, I don’t like you Schildt” He had started by saying that Schildt was trying to make it a four hour game and why bring it Martinez with 1 out to go in a 10 run game.
I left after the top of the 9th, but I’d understand the annoyance, at the same time Miller for one hadn’t pitched since Thurs and it’d been a few days for CMart too. There is a fine line between keeping your guys fresh and keeping them sharp at the same time. Gant hopefully doesn’t see the mound until Thursday, he pitched great, but after 35 pitches, a couple days off wouldn’t hurt.

Where has this Leone been since May of 2018?

Waino sounded a bit ticked himself but taking 90 pitches in 4 2/3 innings is enough justification plus he had some real damage makers coming up. He was sounding ticked at Shildt but Shildt may have been only saving him more embarrassment.

Seems that MLB writers are not giving a rundown of the entire game any more. Ann Rogers, who didn’t even make the trip evidently, is like that. The Brewers guy does a much better job.

I like the way Shildt is running the pen. He is not using all his bullets in one game unless absolutely necessary and the guys who go multiple innings are getting some rest when needed. So today we will have Helsley, Brebbia, Martinez, Gallegos and possibly Miller readily available. I give credit to Mike Maddux for making a lot of this happen. The Brewers were lucky to get 5 out of Gio last night so they still have their hot shot lefty and Jeffress available for close games.

Jimmy Ballgame made an interesting comment about Thomas the last time he was playing center and it came true last night. To paraphrase he said that Thomas seems hesitant to dive for a ball hoping to catch it on a dead run. Last night in right field Thomas did dive and the replay showed it was not pretty. The dive effort was okay but he gave up on the catch by turning his glove away from the catch before the ball ever arrived. He looked like he was preparing for the landing. Maybe some Bader or Edmunds time would help him.

The Brew Crew looked like deer in the headlights. I think they know their season is about over. They don’t have the same mojo as last year. Oh and their pitching is awful. Their front office has had an epic fail trying to piece together a pitching staff.

We should just go ahead and put them out of their misery with wins the next two days.

    MM3,
Just to clarify. Front Row Amy is the one in blue. At this game there just happened to be another gal right next to her that was also eye-catching. But Front Row Amy has the long dark hair.

Could Fowler have gone any slower after Thames’ “triple” in the corner?

Thames saw Fowler dogging it as he was heading for second. He could see that he had time to make it to third. Just an observation.

Nyquis, I was curious about that play at the time, I saw Fowler run over out of sight, then watched Thames turn it up, and then it seemed Fowler had to sit down for a brat and a brew and then throw it in.

Was it lack of hustle or just trying to figure out/play the wall?

CFICT, there was no urgency on Dexter’s part. The TV replay showed it very clearly. He didn’t move initially, I guess hoping it would be foul or hoping Goldy would snare it. Then after he got going, he did a casual jog to the ball. Again, no urgency. Maybe he was thinking Thames’ wasn’t going to leg out a triple. Fowler has been doing well at the plate lately, but you can’t loaf during a playoff run. If you’re hungry to win, every play matters.
