stlcard25ParticipantMake a new rule then…the lead runner can’t tag from 3rd in extra innings. Bunts or hits only for the winning run.
June 23, 2020 at 12:12 pm #131269How does the DH fit into health and safety protocols?

Only in the twisted minds of MLB. I guess it protects pitchers from batting and running injury.
June 23, 2020 at 4:41 pm #131292From Bob Nightengale several minutes ago…#MLB and the #MLBPA continue to exchange ideas with the health and safety protocols. There are no major snags. The union already informed MLB that it plans to play, and be in spring training camps by July 1 with a 60-game season starting July 24-26 weekend.
June 23, 2020 at 4:58 pm #131293Assuming the MLBPA rails against this schedule, is there a scenario where minor league players would be used instead of MLB players? It would be ironic, as most MLBPA has left MILB twisting in the wind as far as the team and player reductions that MLB plans.
June 23, 2020 at 7:55 pm #131297From Jon Heyman…Play ball! Hearing owners and players have worked it all out, and there will be baseball.
June 23, 2020 at 7:57 pm #131298Per Derrick Goold…A week from tomorrow there can be official team workouts for #Cardinals at Busch Stadium. City has approved the team’s plans, and pitchers and catchers who are not already here will begin gathering in STL in the coming days.
June 23, 2020 at 8:02 pm #131299Again per Jon Heyman…The plan is for teams to play 40 games in division and 20 games interleague with their geographic counterpart (East vs. East, etc.) #MLB

All remaining issues have been resolved and Players are reporting to training camps.

June 23, 2020 at 9:12 pm #131311Alright, finally! A 60 game schedule seemed right like two weeks ago. Glad they finally put the finishing touches on it. Any word on active roster size? 35? 40?
June 23, 2020 at 9:21 pm #131314Has anyone heard anything about the status of Ballpark village venues during games?
June 23, 2020 at 10:06 pm #131319If your evening has been anything like mine, your head is spinning from different bits of the MLB return to play details coming from so many directions. I have taken a shot at summarizing them. (free) https://t.co/gGDMxbKZyw pic.twitter.com/QtASEH6mGm

June 23, 2020 at 11:36 pm #131335So basically it’s
10 games against 4 division opponents. 5 home, 5 road
4 games against inter league central opponent 2 home and 2 away.
June 23, 2020 at 11:42 pm #131336Has anyone heard anything about the status of Ballpark village venues during games?
I was ahead of you a month or so ago on this. I have already have put it in my friends ear about a friend of his who has a tower apartment looking over Petco. There’s also a bar that overlooks Petco as well.
Chicago rooftops also would be interesting.
June 24, 2020 at 6:07 am #131338but television crews are not expected to travel, and would call games from a neutral video feed provided by the home team.
Call me crazy but I see this as a weak point of the agreement. Having eyes on the ball as it is hit gives the viewer an indication of how far it is going. The announcers provide that judgement. As in “going…going..GONE.
Also, saw no mention of fans. Or is that up to the local politicians?
June 24, 2020 at 7:09 am #131339No fans. It is in the first sentence.
I have speculated before that owners have been hoping all along that at least some limited attendance will be allowed before the season is out, helping them cut into their losses this season. But again, that is just speculation.

Not quite. As the article says, there are reportedly 6 games against the natural rival (Royals). That would suggest that they would play two of the AL Central teams only three times each. But this is all tentative until Friday.

That makes some sense. It’s gonna be a weird season and who knows how much ill will the game has built for itself, but at least it’ll be something. I’m wondering if teams with good depth, like the Cards, will be better set up for even the short haul of a 60 game season where some stars will surely be missing.

ParticipantThere was some talk about a fan boycott back in 1994. Maybe that should be rekindled if they open the stands up to fans this shortened season. Or is there another way fans can let the owners and players know how offended and disgusted they are?
June 24, 2020 at 8:37 am #13135614NyquisT
ParticipantI can’t wait to see the Card’s schedule.
June 24, 2020 at 8:52 am #131359Me too on the schedule. Though I am disappointed about no Red Sox and Rays, the extended looks at the AL Central should be fun. And as noted above, the Royals and Tigers make for an easier schedule – on paper.
June 24, 2020 at 9:06 am #131364They should open the stands up for fans.
