US Baseball ballpark is just south of the Springfield city limits in the city of Ozark and you have to turn at Lamberts Cafe to get to it. Lamberts is now open full blast again. We still do takeouts only and find that one dinner fills up both of us. Used to be we brought half the meal home. A lot cheaper to buy one meal too……LOL For those who know Lamberts, the word is they bought the campground behind their building and had plans to put up a Super Lamberts but the virus may have slowed those plans.
Do they throw rolls too, like the one in SE Missouri.

Heyman misses the point. Time is NOT running short. Fan patience is.
The rhetoric hasn’t helped, the delays have helped less, and time is running short to reach an agreement. Commissioner Rob Manfred prefers to get a compromise done, but owners aren’t necessarily opposed to him mandating a short season. 50 seems to be the msgic number at moment.

That is very true. I think the owners would be fine with starting the playoffs on September 1 and skip the season.
Breaking the union should not be a viable topic in my opinion. Let’s get a reasonable season put together, and pay the players proportionately, with a floor on salaries capped at an agreeable percent (say 50-60%).
At this point I am not sure you can play more than half a season, with post-season added on. So lets play around 60 Regular season games, and put salaries at a rate higher than 60/162. A little give and take, and lets move on and get this done together.
Start without fans if need be, and see how things look. Maybe by late August we can get fans to the games on a limited basis.

Players are wary that upon signing such a waiver, they’d be unable to take any action should they feel the league provided an unsafe work environment.

One thing that they are complaining about is that teams are using average players up until those players reach arbitration or free agency. Then, the teams bring up some new kids who can do about the same that the thing the more expensive players are doing. So, how do you fix that? Or, better stated, how does the players’ union want that to be fixed? Unions like to have a seniority system for their aging members. Is that what the players’ union wants, a seniority system? I would sincerely appreciate it if someone could fill me in on what I am missing.
Another thing the players are adverse to is revenue sharing/salary cap, and that includes the luxury tax which acts as a soft salary cap. As far as I can tell, the only thing not having a salary cap does is make more money available for the elite players. I don’t see how that makes sense when the elite players are already getting millions upon millions of dollars.
Are the players thinking that the owners are making too much money and they want to do something about it? As long as the players are getting plenty of money themselves, why would they care about how much money the owners are making?
It all seems rather chaotic to me. I said in an earlier post that this controversy is all about control. And I still think that control is at the bottom of it. But I can’t figure out what people think is going to happen when one or the other side establishes themselves as the ones in control. Does somebody have a vision for the future of the game? If they do, I wish they’d tell us about it. If they don’t, they’d better get one, IMO.

ESPN has obtained a copy of MLB’s proposal today to the players. Here are the pertinent details:

– $1,431,716,000 in potential compensation (75% of the full prorated salary of $1,909,436 over 76 games)

A 24 oz tall boy of The King is 12 bones at the yard. Them spits is like a $1.40 a can cost. Trust me they make money. It just depends on how wisely they control expenses.
I will say the Cardinals do throw out some ticket deals that other teams do not during non peak months. The Padres don’t do anything. Zip other than offer 3 dollar tacos on Tuesday and $5 drink deals before the games on Friday. They do have military and first responders deals for those folks like every team does and should.
I think this is basically coming down to if all else fails Manfred steps in and throws down a 50 game schedule. Then it’s all up to players.

Also, the Cubs ownership haven’t shied away from politics. They hosted a Trump campaign fundraiser at the park a year ago.
