Melancon was not good last year either…and if the Giants are pushing all in with their grabbing vets having a Holland in the mix woudl help them in a brutal NL WestThis ‘rumor’ that the Cardinals are interested in Holland is just Boras trying to get the Cubs to make an offer for Holland that would be good enough to let Boras save face. He probably already has offers. But they’re probably for a year or two and under $10M.
Bowtie isnt going to spend a pick to sign him. It was likely torture he couldn’t draft until the 4th round last year.
Well, in all fairness, no one said there was a recent rumor of Cardinals interest. Heyman simply said the Cards remain the most logical destination in his view (and perhaps that of Holland’s agent).
I was in the 2nd row on Thursday and watched Leone pitch the 9th.
93 mph fastball with good downward movement and sharp slider with a late break. Bulldog attitude on the mound. I’m not sure Holland brings more to the table. Saw a number of pitchers this past week, but didn’t see Hicks. Gant and Gomber were impressive yesterday in the AAA game. Greene pitched in the AA game. He’s a piece of work. Loose as a goose.

Matheny was once quoted as saying that Hicks had the biggest arm in camp.A far more accurate assessment, IMO.

If Gregerson has to start the season on the DL I assume that means that both Brebbia and Mayers make the team.
The reality is that the #Braves #Diamondbacks & #Cardinals have all touched base with Boras Corp regarding their client Greg Holland. At this point NONE of them feel like they can be competitive financially based on the “range” being asked for. Holland should take best offer.

Are we to the point that its to holland’s advantage to wait until the date when he is no longer associated with a draft pick? Im assuming at that time teams who might have interest on the cusp (cards, giants, brews) would have a clearer idea if they were real contenders or not. At this point, save a last minute cubs signing id say its looking that way? Amazing offseason…

Holland would need to pitch in some game action before being activated, I would think. New York would be premature.
