Wasn’t he already retired? Matt had a very nice career and will ride off into the sunset with his head held high.

Just read that matt carpenter retired. I guess he realized it was over. Matt was a good player for the cardinals. It fell apart pretty quick but thats how it goes sometimes. I wish him the best.

Rafael Furcal was arrested after an apparent road rage incident in Florida.

Hey, maybe we could get Kiz back on the cheap! Can’t have too many catchers. We started three of them yesterday and have
Crooks and others hanging out in the wings.
By the way, speaking of catchers, whatever happened to Yadi? Didn’t the Cardinals hire him back for some unannounced job?

The Orioles lost their 6th straight today and are now 15 games under even and in last place in the ALE at 11 games back. That teams fortunes have really changed quickly.

Anyone have thoughts on Paul Goldschmidt? Same stance but man has he cut down on this swing and miss from last year. Really irritates me watching him this year. It’s like he didn’t care last year but does now that he’s a Yankee.

Goldschmidt has definitely become energized at the age of 37.

Surprised to see wong retiring. Hes still somewhat young but maybe for the best. He was a solid player for the cardinals. I wish him the best.

I just checked and according to BR Wong made $52,520,000 during his 11 season career. Heck, I’d retire too…Haha!

Wong hadn’t played in the bigs in a couple of years so it isn’t surprising. He was an acceptable late 1st round pick. 17.5 career WAR and a league average hitter at 87 wRC+. Really good with the glove though. It was surprising he just fell off a cliff with the glove after leaving the Cards and was never as valuable again.

Best of luck to him though in retirement. He did make more than enough with taxes to be very comfortable the rest of his life.

With a good tax accountant he should get most of that back…

Harper will be happy about that. Cabrera came close to executing him with a pitch to the head in ’22.

If you think he’s happy. Pete Alonzo might be the guys downing a beer and shot. Remember the brawl where Genesis came from behind and slammed him to the ground?

Yeah, I recall it now, booyah. I looked it up and was reminded that Stubby was also a major player in that takedown…Haha! Although I made a mistake on the year, I clearly recall seeing Cabrera hit Harper. He got him flush in the face with a fastball in ’21. I thought Harper was hurt really bad, but he was able to walk off the field on his own. It was more than a little scary.
