Sorry for the delay, it’s been a busy evening here. The results for TCN 2022 prospect #7 are in!

My vote at #8 is for a player who played at 3 levels in 2021. That’s a feat in itself, but to increase his OPS at each level is really noteworthy –
A+ – .806
AA – .860
AAA – .884Overall, for the season, in 459 plate appearances he slashed .304/.399/.455/.854.
He could very well be the leadoff hitter we’ve been looking for. Plus he bats from the left side. Talking about the former U. of South Alabama Jaguar – Brendon Donovan.Nootbaar @ #8.
I didn’t realize that he was an eligible prospect or I would have voted for him sooner. I like the way he stands in at the plate. He seems to be developing more power. He has a cannon for an arm. I’m anxious to see what he will do if he gets some extended playing time.
I register my #8 pick for a player who’s ceiling rivals that of the dome at Saint Peter’s Basilica……..Joshua Baez. Thank you very much.
McGreevey at 8 for me. Statistically, guys who get ahead early are so successful that any talk of his 2021 without considering the season that earned his draft status is shortsighted.
I am selecting Joshua Baez at #8. Tough call between him, Lars Nootbaar, Brendan Donovan, and Michael McGreevy. Too big a ceiling to ignore for Baez.

#8—Lars Nootbaar.
Some prospects get to the majors and wilt under the pressure. Others actually outperform their ratings. Nootbaar showed surprising skills in his first trip to the bigs. Excellent defense and baserunning. I know he hit only .239 in the majors, but he hit .308 at Memphis and .314/.437/.643 in the AFL. And went down to the wire as an MVP candidate in Arizona as well. There’s a lot to like about Noot.
Put me down for Zack Thompson at #8. The lefty had a rough go in 2021 as he was challenged to move from an A ball cameo to Memphis. He struggled to throw strikes, but did improve as the season progressed (4.43 ERAs for both July and August) although September was not good). He then pitched well in the AFL (3-0, 1.56 ERA, 11.4 K/9). His general strength was the start of games as he often had one blowup inning. I suspect he looks much better at Memphis in 2022 and will be a potential bullpen addition in September. I’d expect him to challenge for a rotation spot in 2023.
I’ll go with Nootbaar at #8. He had great stints in AAA and the AFL. Did well enough in MLB to seemingly lock down the 4th outfielder role. Showed plus defense. Would probably be a starter for half the league.
With an injury to one of the staring OFs I have confidence in Nootbaar to step in and the team wouldn’t skip a beat. #8 = Nootbaar.
Thanks Carsfan25 for initiating and tracking the results in this poll. Your system of getting one #1 thru #10 on a daily basis is working out fine…. it keeps voters on their toes with having to visit TCN to register their vote and add their comments. This makes for a fun and interesting time on here.

#8 Lars Nootbaar
This is an aggressive ranking for Noot but I think with more playing time he is just going to get better and better. I like his hit tool, power, glove, and aptitude for the game. Right now he is a very fine 4th OF but I think he has potential for more.
I vote for Nootbaar at #8. Have to see more out of Baez and McGreevy before they get into the top ten. Maybe mid-season or next year…
With StlCard25’s blessings, I’ll update this most contentious #8 vote, if I may? Looks like Nootbaar is starting to run away from the pack now though. Only 90 minutes to get those votes in gang.

We have two spots left in the Top 10, and, in my mind, (at least) four deserving prospects. Thompson and Donovan are the higher level prospects. Baez and McGreevy have high potential based on bonus money and draft status.
I usually make my pick early in the process, but I think I will wait to read the comments on these guys. (Or others.)

Any player who was named the Massachusetts Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year as a junior in H.S., and accomplished the distinguished feat without throwing a pitch or stepping into the batter’s box, has got my vote. Joshua Emanuel Baez for selection #9.

I think Zack Thompson is better than his stats for 2021 indicate. We still don’t know what affect the pandemic had on his development. Something like that can put a player out of synch for an entire year. I think he has stuff that will play at the major league level. I’d like to see him stay in the top 10 of prospects one more year.
