I am assuming those payroll numbers only include players that are currently active because I am 100% certain that the Yankees have a payroll much much higher than that. I guess the injured guys don’t count.
Cot’s has the Yanks 40 man salary at $308M abd CBT salary at $341M.

October 3, 2026 at 8:10 pm #320259According to the payroll figures in BW’s comment, it costs an average of about $162M potatoes for a Big League baseball team to qualify for a chance to compete in a LDS.
Edit…That’s a little more than the average Joe’s grocery budget.

October 3, 2026 at 8:18 pm #320261Not a bad 8 innings of work for Eric’s namesake…
October 3, 2026 at 8:27 pm #320262The Padres jump out to early lead as they push 2 runs across HP against Misiorowski and the Brewers in the visitor half of the 2nd in MIL. It could have been a lot worse, but Jake was able to get Machado with 2 outs and the bases jammed up to escape and limit the damage. It’s never easy to neutralize a Manny. Any Manny at all. I wish we had one of them Mannys…
October 3, 2026 at 8:32 pm #320263Misiorowski with an easy 1-2-3, 9 pitch 3rd inning.
October 3, 2026 at 8:37 pm #320264Now Chourio ties this one up with a 1 out 2 run tater in the home half of the 3rd inning.
October 3, 2026 at 8:43 pm #320265This Chourio youngster’s a veritable monster in high stakes baseball games at .348/5/13 in 46 AB’s.
October 3, 2026 at 8:46 pm #320266Haha…That little girl’s having lots of fun with the face paint and war cry!
October 3, 2026 at 10:19 pm #320269Hall enters the game with the bases jammed up and 2 outs and gets Merrill on a lazy fly ball to LF to escape the visitor half of the 7th still tied at 2-2. I’m sensing the momentum shifting strongly over to the Brewers as this game goes to the home half of the 7th inning in MIL.
October 3, 2026 at 10:24 pm #320270There you go…Contreras with the 2 out, oppo solo tater over the RF wall to lift the Brewers to a 3-2 lead in the home half of the 7th.
October 3, 2026 at 10:30 pm #320271That dinger by William Contreras was thrilling. Go, Crew. Go.
Pugs. If you’re keeping up with what’s going on at TCN, let us know if you’re bouncing back and forth, on one leg and then the other, like the fans are doing.
Let’s get that runner on 1B home.

October 3, 2026 at 11:11 pm #320273Both teams are playing by the same rules.
October 3, 2026 at 11:12 pm #320274Well, that’s that. The end of an enjoyable day of post-season baseball action. My baseball expert gypsy’s crystal ball picks to advance to the LCS went 1 for 4 on the day…That little gypsy so and so is slipping!
October 3, 2026 at 11:18 pm #320275Ty France hit a towering high flyball towards the LF corner in the 9th that hit the roof or something and ending up being caught by Churio. The announcers thought it could have been a homerun if it didn’t hit that beam up there.
Really bad break for the Padres.
3-2 Milwaukee your final.
October 3, 2026 at 11:31 pm #320276The batter got too much air under that ball. He knew the roof was there before he swing the bat.
Go, Crew. Go.
October 4, 2026 at 7:03 am #320285Pugs. If you’re keeping up with what’s going on at TCN, let us know if you’re bouncing back and forth on one leg and then the other, like the fans are doing.
I usually check out what you guys are doing a few times when I’m at the ole’ ballgame, but last night was just crazy, Mud. I’ve never seen so many intoxicated fans as I witnessed last night……and I’ve been to game in Philadelphia. It was wonderful. I didn’t get home until 1:30a. And that France would-be homer was gone……if that Brewer technician had not quickly lowered that little remote controlled beam section to thwart the ball’s flight.
October 4, 2026 at 7:30 am #320289Here is the home run-turned into out play in the ninth inning. A gift for Milwaukee, but within the rules. Reminds me why I prefer baseball to be played outdoors.
Home Run? Out?
One of the strangest (huge) plays you'll see. 👀 pic.twitter.com/Cgg2B28ctN

October 4, 2026 at 9:12 am #320293Bob Uecker just had to be behind this historic event in Milwaukee’s favor…..wouldn’t it be just like him?
October 4, 2026 at 12:50 pm #320300I grew to appreciate roofed baseball during my five years working in frigid Toronto. What I didn’t like in those early Skydome days, however, was the rubber dojo mats the Blue Jays played on instead of grass.
October 4, 2026 at 1:19 pm #320305Pat Murphy on the post game comments said that ball France hit would have been foul. He said you could see it and it would have drifted way foul.
But it hit the wire in fair territory so “rules is rules.” Seems like a better rule on something like that would be to make anything that hits something on or from the building structure is an automatic foul ball. I would think in some cases trying to determine fair or foul would be tough for the umps.
October 4, 2026 at 1:28 pm #320307Weird to have two series with an off day on a Sunday no less. Why not play all four again today and have the off day for travel to the other club’s location? Sometimes MLB’s processes do not make a lot of sense.
October 4, 2026 at 1:54 pm #320308Yeah, I had to do a double take when I noticed that none of the 4 ALDS teams will suit up today, Bikemike. It doesn’t make nonsense and, in my estimation, has a chance to place a damper on any momentum that yesterday’s two winning teams may have established. Baseball’s meant to be played every day. Sometimes twice a day…
October 4, 2026 at 2:11 pm #320309One way to eliminate placing the umpires into a position of having to determine whether a ball was fair/foul or where the flight path of the the baseball would have ended and come to rest would be to simply declare any baseball that came into contact with any and all sections of the roof structure of a covered ballpark as a dead ball. No foul ball, no fair ball, no tater, no out, no nothing. A dead ball nothing play. Simple and easy. If there were any question as to whether the baseball did indeed come into contact with the roof structure, I have to think that an instant reply in the booth could easily make a reasonably accurate determination possible.
October 4, 2026 at 3:21 pm #320310These best of 5 LDS always bring back memories of the immense amount of pressure that was present during those best of 5 LCS of days gone by. I remember being happy when the format was changed to a best of 7 for a league pennant. I also remember thinking the change was perfect timing as Cardinals participated in the first NLCS best of 7 format in ’85. In any event, these best of 5’s are genuine pressure cookers with no room for any missteps.
October 4, 2026 at 3:31 pm #320311Padres push across a run in the visitor half of the 1st inning but they’d be well advised to quickly tack on at least 4 or 5 more runs in order to establish some genuine momentum and quiet this rabid MIL crowd. I simply don’t think an early 2 or 3 run lead will ever hold up. In my estimation, SD has to generate a reasonably comfortable lead.
