I just now happened to notice that 3 teams that qualified for post-season play this season have never won a WS championship. Brewers, Padres and Rays have all come up empty in a combined 5 WS appearances.

I’ll be darned, not a soul in sight as we head to the home half of the 4th in ATL. I’d have guessed that after another lackluster season of Cardinal baseball that a few of these elite squad of fanatics would be tuned in to these games that feature teams that are reasonably proficient at collecting W’s…I certainly hope all of the Redbird big bosses are watching and paying close attention. Hopefully they’ll pick up a few pointers…Phillies/Braves all locked up tight at 1-1 in ATL.

Bonus baseball as they head to the 10th in ATL all locked up at 3-3. And I don’t have to suffer through a fairy tale, make believe baserunner at 2B…Thank goodness for that.

And Bohm taters up with the 2 out solo HR to lift the Phillies to a 4-3 lead. I guess everyone’s aware that if the make believe, fairy tale Easter bunny baserunner would have been out there on 2B, it’d be 5-3…Maybe they’re waiting for the WS to launch that ingenious idea. That’s too bad.

mudville has been here the whole time. Been pulling for the Braves. Not really into Harper Snd Schwarber.

Regarding Schwarber, it’s hard to argue with the sort of power that generated 56 taters last season, but he simply K’s too much for me to get too excited about.

Braves aren’t going quietly here in the home half of the 10th.

The Phillies hold on for 4-3 W over the Braves in ATL. Well, that’s always what I like to see. It all comes down to a final game 7…Err, uhh, 3.

Odds are still against Phillies to win this 3-game series. But, who knows.

The Astros commit 2 crucial and costly Das Boots in the visitor half of the 1st inning in HOU as the White Sox pounce and make them pay with 4 runs in the 1st…4-0 White Sox heading to the home half.

Yeah, mudville, it’s baseball so anything can happen. If I was a fortune telling gypsy, I’d just leave it to my little crystal ball and wouldn’t bother watching…

White Sox ahead 4-2 in bottom of the 3rd.

The Astros have now ripped 3 solo taters to scuffle back to within a run as they now trail the White Sox by a 4-3 score heading to the visitor half of the 5th in HOU. Future HOF’er Altuve with the solo blast in the home half of the 4th to narrow this game down to a run. The Astros were lucky to have not been entirely buried when the circus showed up to play in the 1st inning.

A point of reckoning with Alvarez standing in with runners aboard a 1B and 2B and 1 out. He’s been quiet so far, but it’s only a matter of time with this guy.

The White Sox escape a 2 out bases loaded jam to protect a sliver of a 4-3 lead over the Astros heading into the visitor half of the 6th at HOU.

Those black White Sox jerseys always bring to mind Jack “Black-jack” McDowell. He was real good for a few seasons, but seemed to always get touched up real bad when he worked in the post-season. At any rate, he had a really good nickname.

Meidroth breaks this one loose with an Earl Weaver special to lift the White Sox to a 7-3 lead in the visitor half of the 6th inning. He really launched that 3 run tater.

If the White Sox can hang on to this lead and win this game to advance, they deserve a lot of credit. It’s obviously no bargain to be required to play an entire post-season series in a hostile environment. They lost well over 300 games in the 3 previous seasons so they’ve turned things around in a big hurry. I hope all of the Cardinal big bosses that work for Willie Jr. can formulate a similar sort of approach to winning some baseball games.

The Red Sox pin their hopes on Sonny Gray as he gets the baseball in an attempt to stave off an end to the Red Sox’ season at the hands of their beloved Yankees…

Former Redbird Fedde works the 8th and 9th to record the final 6 outs to seal it shut and allow the White Sox to advance with a 7-3 W over the Astros in HOU.

I wonder why Gray didn’t pitch this well in St. Louis. Was it his morale because he was pitching for a team that wasn’t going anywhere? Or did it have something to do with Oli’s leadership and all the young prospects getting tryouts? Probably both. Arenado and Gray are having standout years. And St. Louis is paying almost all of their salaries. Go figure.

I thought he did real good at times while he was here in StL. The primary thing that stood out to me regarding Gray was his competetive nature and his ability to record an out when he really needed one. In simple terms, he looked like a pitcher to me. He was all business and his demeanor on the mound seemed to always stay the same no matter the situation. However, in regards to the current Redbird manager, I’ve been convinced for quite some time that the Cardinals will never again win anything of note with him standing on the top step of the dugout. He simply doesn’t impress me as having what’s required to lead a Big League baseball team to anyhting approaching consistent or prolonged success.

They were ChiSox a-go-go in HOU…They now advance to play the team that inched them out by 1 game in the ALC. Here come those Injuns again…
