Walker had a bad misplay out there, and it was especially visible. But he has benefitted from the overall ragged defensive play of his mates, because he doesn’t really stand out so much as a weak link.
Walker may or may not turn into a masher, but for now he is a good get on base guy, so his position in the lineup should reflect that reality. That he isn’t batting ahead of the mashers is a mistake.
The more I see Contreras behind the plate, the less I like him. Even if he starts hitting, it is going to be a long 5 years. I agree we should have known talent evaluation was a problem when they let Erika go.
