Euro and TexasCard now in the house makes watching this lopsided affair justifiable. Have to hit them with at least 3 here in the bottom of the 7th.

I hope they interview Waino tonight. Maybe catch a hint on his thoughts about retiring early? But I’ll acknowledge it’s really tough to admit you’re not able to perform at a professional level any more. I don’t see his pitching improving as the season goes on, only further eroding. He needs to have that tough talk with the man in the mirror.

Yeah, that was a good trivia question, Euro. The correct answer was a little before my time. The first Houston Astro that really made an impression on me was good ol’ Rusty Staub, who I think should be in the HOF. Two guys that I recall beating up on Gibson pretty good were Rusty Staub and Billy Williams.

At least the Phils are threatening to sweep the cubbies in Chicago as they lead the north siders 3-1 in the 5th.

I never thought it was a good idea to send Walker back down to Memphis when they did, but their W/L record obviously proves they know more than we do.

Sweet TD…..I had old baseball cards of Rusty Staub as a kid……I still recall some of the other Expo cards I had such as Boots Day, John Boccabella, Ron Hunt……but I cannot remember any of their pitchers. Rusty was their big bopper though.

I’ll never forget learning about Rusty Staub’s hair color as a youngster. I’d seen him play several times on TV and his pics in the newspaper. Then I heard an announcer call him the red head, which surprised me because he didn’t look red headed to me. My parents told me that the name Rusty was a clue because it was a nickname for a red head. You just couldn’t see that on a black and white TV or newspaper.

Haha…”Boccabella”…I remember him Pugs. I always thought his name could have been claimed to be a brand name infringement on Lou’s “Brockabella.”

Ron Hunt was a ball magnet.

Great Expo rememberances Euro & TD. I faintly recall the Jerry Park PA announcer being quite the character. I think he announced the players name in both French and English.

Ron Hunt sure was, Euro. Anyone who gets bopped by pitches 50 times in a single season has to be begging to get plunked.

I think I will listen to the post game Olli interview to see what he has to say about this abomination. “We Stunk” would be refreshing. I want to see what Waino has to say as well.

Well, back to 14 games under .500.

Losing is contagious even in the pros.

To have a .500 season Cards will need to go 48-34 .585 the rest of the way.

I keep asking the question – at what point do heads start to roll?

Speaking of Rusty Staub……that young outfielder with Milwaukee, I think his name is Weimer?, he looks a great deal like Rusty Staub.

Go check if you don’t believe me.

How can we get some use out of this season?

Do we go for a youth movement and give Arenado and Goldschmidt a lot of days off to reduce wear and tear?

Take a good long extended look at some promising young players just to see what they can do?

Do we think the expiring contract players like Flaherty and DeJong will be dealt for whatever we can get for them?

Joey does look a bit like Rusty……good comparison, Rat…….though I am somewhat miffed that you didn’t bring your Front Row Amy into the conversation when speaking of the Brewers……that’s not like you.

Well Cy France isn’t coming out to pitch the 8th. Hard to believe we only accrued 4 hits and not a single tally off this fellow.

A good shellacking to finish off a dud of a series, after the first game anyway. It’s nigh unto impossible to see any improvement at this point. Waino will sheepishly get #200 sometime and that’s likely your season highlight.

Yeah, by the time the Expos moved on from Jerry Park thay had some really good teams and a visit to Olympic Stadium was never a bargain for the Redbirds until well into the 80’s.

Burleson on to pitch the 9th……we may finally keep these guys off the scoreboard.

Three consecutive singles off Burleson to open the 9th…..Burleson’s WHIP may go through the roof here……and now Bregman nearly goes over the roof in left as he whallops a granny making it 14-0.

Fans? There’s about 1200 of them. All wearing orange.
