For awhile it seemed like most of our high ranking prospects were 3B. Walker, Gorman, Montero, Nunez, etc…
Montero left in the Arenado trade, Nunez left in the Quintana trade, so that left Walker and Gorman being blocked by Arenado thus both of them having to learn new positions on the fly. There are only so many DH AB’s to go around.
They were likely drafted with an eye on a future need that was ultimately met in another way – via trade. Also, FWIW, Nunez moved to being mostly a first baseman, which started before the trade. He is currently on the IL at Triple-A.
