just got up for a late night wee and checked in on the game. Another depressing effort so I’m going back to bed.

Yeah 1TD – not sure where Marmol draws his lineups from. Remember in the ‘70s that time when the Yankees were struggling, and Billy Martin pulled the batting order out of a hat?

Bikemike…Your question immediately made me think of the old beer commercials…

Those old Miller Lite commercials were classic. Best ever was Bob Uecker – “I must be in the front row.” 😀

No, I didn’t recall that, Bikemike, but I just looked it up and they scored 8 runs and won the game 8-6…Haha! You gotta love Billy Martin!

Yeah, they don’t make ‘em like Billy anymore.

Really like this Gorman kid. He would be in there every day for me.

They sure don’t. And yeah, how can you platoon the player who leads the team in RBI’s and HR’s?

Edman with a base running blunder, otherwise we would be ahead.

Mo should be on the phone with Texas GM right now. “I’ve got a couple arms I could send your way to help out this pen from blowing games.”

Only Ollie would be keeping Gorman out against lefties. But I will say, he is a great weapon late in a close game.

Can’t believe that lousy judgement on the basepaths.

He’s hit LHP well in a small sample size. He played him yesterday against Hill and was what 0-3 with 3 K, Perez has been tough vs LH hitters. Made sense to give him the day….not to defend Oli too much.

Wow, nice inning from Helsley. Yeah, good comment Cards667.

I haven’t heard anything about Paniagua’s injury or recovery time. Anyone know anything

Nothing, but I will recap for anyone interested. Back in April when he went on the IL it was reported as shoulder tightness. Since then its fallen into that black hole where MiLB injuries go sometimes. He hasn’t resurfaced that I know of. Obviously its serious, and its a shoulder, so its not good.

You’re right that it makes sense with most guys, 667, but it doesn’t do anything for his confidence and the fact remains that he’s been the most productive offensive weapon all season long. And besides, if anything the Cardinal manager does makes any sense, it’s by accident…

Man, Baker swings at a couple of pitches way low – the second one in the dirt. Got be better at pitch recognition kid.

Baker is way over matched from what I’ve seen.

I would still have Gorman in there most every day, but sitting him once in awhile versus a lefty is understandable. But I would not sit him very often, lefty or no lefty.

Interesting that there are so many Cardinal fans in attendance.

IF Edman had kept running he would’ve scored too, as long as he didn’t pass Gorman, 😉

But Gorman really botched it and got the whole TOOTBLAN started by the way retreated all the way back to 2B and then losing sense for what happened in LF. It derailed the train. I think it spooked Edman because he was right on Gorman’s heels.

Pirates come back to beat Oakland. I read something a little while back where a scout said Oakland is the worst team he has ever seen by far. They might end up with a worse percentage than their 1916 counterparts in Philadelphia, as well as the infamous 1962 Mets.

Might have cost 2 runs, Euro. Nado probably would have scored on the Contreras GB to the 2B’man with 1 out. Not good.

I agree Euro. It looks like Edmans fault, and he could have still scored, but Gorman is the one who threw him off.
