7:05 p.m.
RHP Adam Wainwright (2-1, 6.15) vs LHP Martín Pérez (6-1, 4.43)
MLB Network // BSM // KMOX
(and Bally Sports South/Southwest Extra)June 4, 2023 at 5:02 pm #223288The beleaguered Redbird pitching won’t be browsing any bargain aisles in these 3 games. The Rangers now lead the entire Big Leagues in runs scored. Time this series is over, the scoreboard may reflect numbers similar to the national debt.
June 4, 2023 at 5:41 pm #223291Trying to decide if I want to spend the money and time to bother going. May end up being a gametime decision.
June 4, 2023 at 5:50 pm #223292You’ll go TC, you’re not fooling me.
A 43 year old guy just shut us down going 6.2 innings, and he’s making less than half what Wainwright is making. I love Waino, but he needs to step off the gravy train.
June 4, 2023 at 6:12 pm #223295Oh, by the way, those two days off really helped, huh?
June 4, 2023 at 6:18 pm #223296This team being this team they will probably take 2 off the Rangers and get back to only 9 under.
June 4, 2023 at 6:59 pm #223303Lets go out on a limb and assume Baker was called up to mostly DH rather than play 1B or sit on the bench. That is going to mean playing Knizner fairly regular with Contreras pivoting to DH will not be happening so much. So what will be happening instead?
edit. If you are going to say Contreras and his contract will sit more, I don’t know about that. But he can’t catch everyday, and won’t catch every day. Mo told us all about that this spring. He would be DHing some, Mo said.
June 4, 2023 at 8:52 pm #223310Holy crud I just saw a clip of Luken Baker standing at 1B next to Clapp. Stubby looks like a munchkin from wizard of oz. Not kidding. Baker is a side of beef out there. I hope he at least sticks long enough for a couple moon shots at Busch.
June 4, 2023 at 9:35 pm #223314I think Luken is probably Luke Voit 2.0 but he has earned the right to have some hacks at the plate. I wouldn’t mind seeing him DH for awhile to see what he can do.
June 4, 2023 at 10:14 pm #223322Why are we developing sluggers? People that hit the occasional moon shot? The ones that strikeout all the time?
Why don’t we try and develop the skill of….PUTTING THE F-WORD BALL IN PLAY!!!!!
June 4, 2023 at 10:16 pm #223326Because Mo saw what the Cubs did in 2015 and 2016 and decided we needed to draft more slugger types.

Participantright bling.
They need to replace Waino with Woody right now; give him a few starts and see if he can get going again as he did last season… but then the FO would have to admit to another mistake..probably never happen!
oh well, there’s always next year. I believe the playoffs are out of reach. Need to give the younger players time and get ready for 2024.June 5, 2023 at 9:40 am #223362Someone on here recently mentioned the makeover the Rangers did this past offseason. They canned their analytical front office leader and replaced him with Chris Young, a former player. They hired an old school future HOF caliber manager in Bochy then spent big money fortifying their rotation after fortifying their offense in recent years. Their payroll is $195M.
Looking at the standings I would say things seem to be working so far.
June 5, 2023 at 1:26 pm #223377Anybody wanna guess our lineup for tonight?
Since Knizner yanked a dong yesterday will he get a chance to yank another today?
Will Contreras be the DH?
Will Luken Baker be in the lineup against the lefty? Or will it be Yepez?
What LH bat will be in the lineup today besides Mellow Yellow Donovan?
Will our leadoff man, Tommy Edman, still be hitting 9th?
Man oh man, I wish I could manage this team for about ten days. Things would change!

1 Edman CF
2 Goldschmidt 1B
3 Arenado 3B
4 Contreras, Wn C
5 Baker DH
6 DeJong SS
7 Donovan 2B
8 Walker RF
9 Mercado LFJune 5, 2023 at 2:09 pm #223384Yeah, what does that tell you when a historically storied and legendary franchise like the Texas Rangers hires a future HOF’er named Bruce Bochy as their field manager and an upstart organization with little or no historical significance who call themselves the St. Louis, Cardinals hire a guy named…I can’t even say it.
June 5, 2023 at 2:15 pm #223385Edman is batting .259 I thought Esteemed Rats wouldn’t think that’s good enough to bat leadoff.
Just for reference his OPB. at .319 isn’t great either for that spot
June 5, 2023 at 2:17 pm #223387Doesn’t matter. When Eddie reaches, Eddie scores. Runs are still more important than OBP…
June 5, 2023 at 2:22 pm #223389Baker’s OBP is .500 perfect for leadoff.
June 5, 2023 at 2:25 pm #223391And his 0.00 ERA would look nice as a member of the 5 man.
June 5, 2023 at 2:40 pm #223395Eddie is #62 tied with 5 others at 30 runs scored for MLB lead. Adolis Garcia has 47 with about the same OPB and average
June 5, 2023 at 2:47 pm #223396Yeah, from the 9 slot. And he’s averaged 92 runs scored for 3 full seasons.
June 5, 2023 at 3:53 pm #223404We wasted the rested up pen yesterday. What we need today is Wainwright to man up for a change. I love him, but its wearing thin. He bails on the team in ST, hurting himself in the process, so he can’t answer the bell on opening day. Then a string of lame 5 inning starts that wreck the pen. Start pitching or go fishing.
June 5, 2023 at 3:55 pm #223405I just noticed that Miami 2B’man Arraez is leading the entire Big Leagues with a BA of .392 which is 61 pts. higher than second place Freddie Freeman. He came over to the Marlins from MIN and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play. I’ll bet Rats would like this guy. At any rate, it’s only a little more than a third through the season, but he’s in George Brett territory.
June 5, 2023 at 4:05 pm #223407Arraez is no joke. He is a lifetime .324 hitter. He came over from Minnesota in the Pablo Lopez trade.
